Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. Position Overview

The Foreman position will work hand in hand with superintendents to ensure the day-to-day operations and timely completion of all construction projects. This role includes the oversight of crew personnel, equipment, and overall safety of the project, ensuring paving jobs are completed to high standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with all aspects of asphalt paving and OSHA regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct activities of workers concerned with construction of highways and other construction projects.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and assists in final planning and implementation of work plans, as needed.
  • Work with superintendent to hold daily safety meetings and ensure that all employees follow safety practices
  • Ensure all employees are working together efficiently and supervises operation of all machines and equipment used on jobs. Foreman are responsible for the day-to-day occurrences on the job site.
  • Work with superintendent to coordinate various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Communicate with supervisory personnel and human resources representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within workforce.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to. Inspect job progress on all jobs on a daily basis.
  • Work with superintendent to see that appropriate personnel is scheduled and materials/equipment are received for each job
  • Ensure job tracking reports, daily log sheets, daily employee time, and all other necessary paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner
  • Be constantly aware of job progress including time frame.
  • Coordinate maintenance of equipment and vehicles with the mechanic shop.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Entry Level Position
  • Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

 

Working Conditions

  • Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
  • Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Proper PPE is required at all times.
