Job DetailsJob Location: Apex Sign Group -TX - San Antonio, TX 78222Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: NoneTravel Percentage: NoneJob Category: Entry LevelPosition Summary The Sign Builder / Sign Production Associate is responsible for supporting the fabrication, assembly, and production of high quality signage while meeting Apex Sign Group’s expectations for safety, quality, efficiency, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. This is a hands on shop floor position for someone who enjoys building, problem solving, working with tools, and seeing a project come together from design through finished product. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast paced production environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Read and interpret drawings, layouts, specifications, work orders, and production instructions. Fabricate and assemble various types of signage according to project specifications and quality standards. Measure, cut, drill, fasten, assemble, and finish sign components and materials. Work with materials including aluminum, steel, acrylic, vinyl, and other sign substrates. Apply vinyl graphics and assist with sign faces, panels, and other finished components as required. Safely operate production equipment such as panel saws, drills, drill presses, impact drivers, vinyl cutters, laminators, CNC/routing equipment, and other shop machinery. Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively. Perform MIG/TIG welding when required and when properly trained/qualified. Inspect completed work to ensure dimensions, appearance, construction, and quality meet specifications. Identify production or quality issues and work with supervisors and team members to resolve them. Manage assigned work efficiently to support production schedules and customer deadlines. Communicate production delays, material concerns, safety issues, or quality problems promptly. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area. Support other production departments and work centers as business needs require. Follow established production processes, OSHA requirements, and Apex safety procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Customer Mindset Understands that quality, accuracy, and on-time production directly affect the customer's experience with Apex.QualificationsPreferred Technical Skills Successful candidates may have experience with some or all of the following: Sign fabrication and assembly Reading production drawings and measurements Vinyl application Aluminum, acrylic, steel, and sign substrates Panel saws and cutting equipment CNC machines and routers Laminators and vinyl cutters Drills, impact drivers, drill presses, and power tools MIG/TIG welding Measuring tools and basic shop mathematics General fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or assembly Sign industry experience is preferred but not required for candidates who demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly. Physical Requirements This position requires regular physical activity in a manufacturing environment. Associates must be able to: Stand and work on their feet for extended periods. Bend, reach, push, pull, climb, and perform repetitive movements. Safely lift and move materials and finished products within established company lifting requirements. Work around machinery, tools, fabrication equipment, noise, and varying shop conditions. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). The Sign Builder is expected to: Follow all established shop and OSHA safety requirements. Properly use PPE and machine safeguards. Operate only equipment for which they have been trained and authorized. Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, or potential hazards.
