Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary: Â
IPSD is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in San Antonio, Texas as a Team Lead supporting the CNC machining of our C9 diesel engine blocks. As a team lead in our machining facility, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of employees, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and procedures. What you will do:Â
- Lead and train Machine Operators, ensuring their proficiencyÂ
- Champion the adherence to safety guidelines as well as 5S, a system that helps organize and maintain a productive work environmentÂ
- Provide process-related information and escalation of issues to Production Manager, engineers, and/or maintenance departmentsÂ
- Ability to fill any team position and accomplish various tasksÂ
- Ensure quality by inspecting parts and materials during the assembly processÂ
- Collaborate with other departments for problem-solving and process improvementÂ
- Submit and assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiativesÂ
- Follow standard operating procedures and specific work instructionsÂ
- Execute daily work assignments and special projects directed by the Production ManagerÂ
- Facilitate employee training for processes and certificationsÂ
- Maintain effective communication within the team and across departmentsÂ
- Assisting in leading various team meetings for the assigned areaÂ
- Perform other assigned dutiesÂ
What you will have: Â
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in Machining Operations and/or Quality experience in a machining and/or manufacturing facility, leadership experience, or relevant college degree or combination of experiencesÂ
- Strong interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teamsÂ
- Basic understanding of machining centers controls and applications (i.e. Heller & Toyota)Â
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) software, ability to read tooling and part printsÂ
- Experience with electronic standard work or standard operating procedures (SOPs)Â
- Proficiency in Plex menus (control panel, check sheets, inventory search, rejection logs, etc.)Â
- Ability to handle departmental delegation during issue resolutionÂ
- Flexibility in shift and/or value stream assignmentsÂ
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsÂ
- Initiative and willingness to speak upÂ
What would make you a top candidate: Â
- In-depth knowledge of Heller and Toyota Machining Centers Controls and ApplicationsÂ
- Knowledge of various tools with the ability to change and set tooling in machinesÂ
- Technical experience in manufacturing processesÂ
- Experience conducting standard work audits for a value streamÂ
- One year of leadership experience in a formal or informal capacity, preferably in manufacturingÂ
- Lean manufacturing experience or Six Sigma CertificationÂ
- Knowledge of gaugingÂ
Physical Requirements:Â
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of timeÂ
- Ability to perform repetitive operationsÂ
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.Â

Summary Pay Range:
$22.00 - $28.50Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.Â
