Position Summary
MCA is looking for a DoD SkillBridge Intern – Security Technician to learn the installation and troubleshooting of commercial security systems.
This internship is designed for transitioning service members who are interested in hands-on technical work, low voltage installation, field service, and customer support.
You will work alongside experienced MCA technicians to learn how to install, test, troubleshoot, and support security devices and systems.
What You’ll Learn and Do
- Assist with security system installations and service work.
- Learn access control, CCTV, intrusion/burglar alarm, and related systems.
- Help install devices like card readers, cameras, door strikes, magnetic locks, panels, power supplies, and cabling.
- Pull, route, terminate, and test low voltage cable.
- Learn basic troubleshooting for devices, cabling, power, and connectivity.
- Read basic wiring diagrams, scopes of work, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Follow MCA standards, customer requirements, and safety expectations.
- Communicate issues, delays, or material needs to the project lead.
- Help maintain tools, materials, equipment, and inventory.
- Enter time and document work accurately.
- Work professionally at customer sites.
What We’re Looking For
- Active-duty service member eligible for DoD SkillBridge.
- Command approval to participate.
- Interest in security systems, electronics, low voltage, communications, IT, networking, or field service.
- Hands-on mindset and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and attention to detail.
- Team-first attitude.
- Prior experience with communications, electronics, maintenance, construction, troubleshooting, IT, or security systems is helpful but not required.

Work Environment
