Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Superintendent with experience in underground, wet utilities and working in the civil industry to oversee underground utility projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating field operations, managing crews and subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a thorough understanding of underground utility construction processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight and Execution:
  • Supervise daily field operations for underground utility projects, including water, sewer, gas, and electrical installations.
  • Coordinate and schedule crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to meet project deadlines.
  • Monitor progress and resolve field issues promptly to minimize delays.
  • Interpret and implement construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, local ordinances, and company standards.
  • Address and document any safety incidents or violations.
Quality Control:
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds quality standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to confirm adherence to plans and standards.
  • Address quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor field crews, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
  • Monitor crew performance and provide training or guidance as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to align field operations with project goals.
Communication and Reporting:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for field operations, liaising between crews, subcontractors, and management.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate field records, including daily reports, equipment usage, and material logs.
Resource Management:
  • Oversee the proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Manage materials to minimize waste and ensure availability when needed.
  • Identify and address resource shortages or logistical challenges.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of trenching, shoring, and excavation safety practices.
  • Experience in underground, wet utilities in the civil industry
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual
  • Knowledge of GPS and laser-guided equipment for underground utilities.
  • Certifications in safety training (e.g., OSHA 30, Confined Space Entry).
