WELDER POSITION
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated, skilled Welder to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will weld, fit, and fabricate metal components and structures, ensuring every weld meets AWS standards, safety requirements, and project specifications. You'll work on diverse projects from structural steel to vehicle and equipment fabrication — while developing your skills in a fast-paced, quality- and safety-focused shop.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform precise welding using MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding techniques in accordance with AWS standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate welds and assemblies.
- Fabricate, fit, and assemble metal structures, frames, brackets, and components on-site or in the shop, using calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes for proper alignment.
- Strong mechanical fabrication skills combined with excellent attention to detail for precise assembly of structural components.
- Conduct quality checks and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with standards.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, cutters, drills, and plasma cutters safely and efficiently.
- Inspect welds and completed assemblies for quality, making adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including PPE use, OSHA guidelines, and fire and power-tool safety; participate in regular safety meetings and training.
- Collaborate with other departments and the production team to keep projects on schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and accurately complete timecards and job documentation.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Current welding certification or documented professional welding experience.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW welding techniques.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Mechanical knowledge of fabrication, machining, sheet metal, and construction processes.
- Basic math skills for measurements and weld-size calculations.
- Fit-up sub-assembly parts and complete weld-out within standard timeframes.
- Experience working in a fabrication shop environment is highly desirable along with construction experience on large-scale projects. Construction site experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical shop work.
- Comfortable working underneath, inside, or around vehicles and structures.
