Open Rank Clinical Faculty Neurologist and Neurology Residency Program DirectorÂ
California University of Science and Medicine is excited to announce a search for a Clinical Faculty/Neurology Residency Program Director. This full-time position will include responsibility for the operation of one of CUSM’s two affiliated neurology residency programs while maintaining active clinical practice. This is an open-rank academic position with opportunities for advancing the educational, research, and clinical missions of the University. As the Neurology Residency Program Director, play a key role in stakeholder communication and leadership within the Graduate Medical Education Office at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC), responsible for the operation of one of CUSM’s two affiliated neurology residency programs. The residency program at ARMC is an ACGME-accredited 456-bed teaching hospital, certified as a comprehensive stroke center. Â

Salary
The annual base salary range for this position is $275,000-$325,000/year. Salary may vary based on faculty rank, the scope of the position, and qualifications of the applicant. In addition to salary, CUSM offers a comprehensive benefits package and professional development funds.
Position Purpose
The CUSM Health Neurology Faculty is a full-time, open-rank academic position with opportunities for advancing the educational, research, and clinical missions of California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) while maintaining active clinical practice. As the Neurology Residency Program Director, play a key role in stakeholder communication and leadership within the Graduate Medical Education Office at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC), responsible for the operation of one of CUSM’s two affiliated neurology residency programs.Â
Essential Functions
60% Clinical Practice and Teaching
- Serve as a Clinical Faculty to include outpatient and/or inpatient neurology in any subspecialty, or in general neurology.
- Advance the education, research, and clinical missions of the academic medical center in all areas of Clinical Neurology.Â
- Teach in the MD program, which includes the required third-year neurology clerkship as well as fourth-year neurology sub-internship and elective rotations, and may include teaching neurology topics in small-group and/or large-group sessions within the pre-clerkship curriculum.
- Teach residents at both of CUSM’s two affiliated neurology residency programs: the HCA/Riverside Community Hospital Neurology Residency Program and the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Neurology Residency Program.
- Facilitate and support the training of the next generation of physicians and neurologists who will further advance Neurology. Champions improvements in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows in the Department of Neurology.Â
- Advise students in pre-clinical and clinical years in collaboration with the advising team and clinical team.Â
- Conduct and foster clinical research in any area of neurology, including but not limited to investigator-initiated and/or industry-sponsored clinical trials, and/or any other clinical research in conjunction with medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Serve on committees, study sections, and review groups as a journal editor and/or on editorial boards. Commit to service within the community. Participate in other service activities as defined in the Faculty Appointment and Promotion Guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
40% Neurology Residency Program Director
- Design and conduct the CUSM Health Residency Program in a fashion consistent with the needs of the community, the missions of Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC, the Sponsoring Institution), and the mission of the program.
- Provide overall leadership, design, and oversight of the Neurology Residency Program in compliance with ACGME and ARMC requirements.
- Maintain a high-quality educational environment across all ACGME competency domains.
- Recruit, select, evaluate, and oversee residents and program faculty.
- Ensure a safe, professional learning environment that supports confidential reporting and protects against retaliation.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, including due process, non-discrimination, and grievance procedures.
- Submit accurate and timely information to ARMC leadership, the DIO, GMEC, and ACGME; obtain required approvals prior to ACGME submissions.
- Verify completion of training for graduating residents in a timely manner.
- Serve as a professional role model and uphold the mission of the program and Sponsoring Institution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Educational Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with specialty board certification and active medical license in California.
- Completion of ACGME-accredited neurology residency.
- Fellowship training is preferred.
- Per ACGME requirements, the neurology residency program director must possess specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience, or qualifications acceptable to the ACGME’s Neurology Residency Review Committee (RRC).
