PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Data Governance Analyst II is a mid-level position responsible for actively contributing to data governance initiatives and independently managing metadata tasks. This role applies established standards, collaborates across teams, and begins to take ownership of specific data governance areas. This role helps ensure adherence to the enterprise data governance program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides enterprise data governance support.

  • Develops and maintains metadata repositories and management systems (data catalog).

  • Performs non-technical tool configuration within the Data Catalog, including Catalog UI, Templates, and Terms/Glossaries.

  • Ensures proper documentation of data assets and their relationships in the data catalog.

  • Applies and helps enforce metadata standards and policies in the data catalog.

  • Collaborates with teams to capture and maintain accurate metadata in the data catalog.

  • Assists in implementing metadata governance processes.

  • Provided training on metadata management best practices.

  • Creates and maintains data quality documentation.

  • Monitors basic data governance metrics.

  • Supports the use of insurance industry and ICW specific nomenclature/naming standards within all data assets including, but not limited to reports, meta data articles, and project documentation.

Provides data quality issue management and remediation.

  • Collaborates with team members throughout business and technical departments to document data quality issues.

  • Coordinates the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and IT.

  • Ensures that a backlog of issues is consistently refined and updated for agile consumption.

  • Assists with the implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise.

  • Works with business partners to gather and understand functional requirements, develops queries and provides reports.

  • Participates in user and integration testing for deployment of new data assets. Documents and reports the results accordingly.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university required in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or related field required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional-Associate), DGSP Certification from ICCP (Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals), or other Data Governance Certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Intermediate SQL experience.

  • Working knowledge of SaaS platforms.

  • Experience with data catalog tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation) and metadata management systems.

  • Working knowledge of metadata management practices.

  • Familiarity with spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel) for data manipulation.

  • Knowledge of insurance industry preferred.

  • Strong analytical and time management skills.

  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Team-oriented focus; ability to conduct effective meetings with business and project teams.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.

The current range for this position is

$83,017.13 - $140,002.70

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.  If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
