Overview:
The Warehouse Specialist Lead performs a full range of Quality Control Evaluation duties including testing, inspection, process validation, and workforce training in support of distribution center Quality Management. The Lead Warehouse Specialist - Quality Control provides day-to-day work direction to Quality Control personnel, supports implementation of the Quality Control Plan, reviews quality results, and serves as a primary point of coordination for quality-related activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day Quality Control activities and help establish work priorities to ensure required inspections, evaluations, audits, and reporting are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Identify, examine, classify, inspect, and report specific and general issues of quality assurance and Quality Management. Examinations may be visual or may require measuring devices and inspection techniques.
- Support the Project Lead and Site Supervisor in the creation, maintenance, and implementation of the Quality Control Plan (QCP).
- Conduct and/or review Quality Control checks on completed project work to verify compliance with contract requirements, DLA standard operating procedures, and applicable quality standards.
- Plan and execute mock audits and readiness reviews to confirm project personnel are performing work in accordance with DLA SOPs and established procedures.
- Review non-conforming results, validate supporting documentation, communicate findings to the Project Lead/Site Supervisor, and assist with follow-up corrective actions as directed.
- Track QCP results, identify recurring trends, and prepare routine and ad hoc quality reports for project leadership.
- Validate processes through statistical sampling, inspection, measurement, and other approved quality techniques.
- Perform and/or coordinate first article inspections as required.
- Provide coaching, technical guidance, and on-the-job training to Quality Control staff and distribution center personnel on quality procedures, inspection requirements, and documentation expectations.
- Receive data from, and input data to, the Distribution Standard System (DSS) and other automated systems in performance of duties.
- Serve as a primary Quality Control point of contact for the distribution mission and coordinate quality-related issues across functional work areas.
- Assist in reviews of inventory, COSIS, packaging, shipping, and related warehouse processes to promote compliance and continuous process improvement.
- Help ensure quality records, inspection documentation, and audit materials are complete, accurate, organized, and available for management or customer review.
- Provide coverage and continuity for Quality Control operations when designated quality leadership is unavailable, within assigned authority.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Â
- Assists the Supervisor in scheduling work, responsible for instructing and aiding a group of employees.
- Performs evaluations and assists the supervisor in maintaining a smooth flow of work and maintains records.
- Provide functional work direction, task coordination, and technical support to assigned Quality Control personnel.
- Monitor daily workload, communicate priorities, and elevate staffing, quality, safety, or compliance concerns to project leadership.
- Review work products for completeness and accuracy and provide feedback or retraining when deficiencies are identified.
- Promote consistent application of quality procedures and a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- This lead role is not intended to independently exercise hiring, termination, disciplinary, or compensation authority unless separately delegated by management.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of college preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum two years of general experience required.
- Minimum two years of specific experience in inspection, quality assurance, Quality Control, or related areas required; prior lead, senior-level, or work-direction experience preferred.
- Able to successfully certify in Safety, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), and radioactive training requirements. Must be current in all required certifications within 30 to 60 days of selection for the position.

- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, communicate expectations clearly, and support employees in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision while coordinating the work of others.
- Able to prioritize multiple assignments, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Able to apply inspection and examination procedures for materials and completed work.
- Able to read and interpret specifications, drawings, prints, schematics, and photographs.
- Must be able to follow requirements of MIL-STD-129 and applicable DLA SOPs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings, prepare reports, and explain quality requirements to employees and leadership.
- Ability to identify quality trends, recognize recurring deficiencies, and recommend practical process improvements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, and business e-mail software.

Security Clearance:Â
- Must have a current U.S. Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. Government-administered investigation.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance.
