Your Opportunity

The Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong healthcare focus, will apply building electrical engineering principles, your superior client service skills, and project management best practices to deliver projects that meet project requirements, exceed client expectations, and meet project financial and other objectives. Working within our thriving buildings practice, you will contribute to project delivery standards and work processes, provide quality control, workload forecasting, financial performance accountability, and collaboration with other disciplines. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of healthcare projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure successful execution
  • Work collaboratively with project leaders, architects, design partners, peers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success metrics, and develop innovative and practical solutions, and meet the project's conditions of satisfaction.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, facilitating communication and collaboration to achieve project milestones
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address challenges proactively
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, quality standards, and best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes.
  • Engage with external partners, including vendors and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and integration of project design.
  • Establish strong relationships with healthcare providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure design alignment with project objectives.
  • Lead the electrical design for health and complex, critical non-health facility projects, including power distribution, lighting, backup power (generator/UPS systems), utility coordination, short circuit and coordination studies and coordination with other disciplines such as mechanical, technology and fire alarm.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess project variables and develop reliable design solutions independently.
  • Prepare detailed design documents, specifications, and reports.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare design standards and regulations.
  • Participate in/lead project meetings and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Successfully manage projects and tasks of a scope, complexity, and revenue budget appropriate to experience.
  • Provide oversight for Electrical Engineering staff.
  • Actively contributes to the overall technical growth of the electrical team.
  • Meets technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary, and client service objectives for each project.
  • Apply strong electrical engineering skills, experience, and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design for building projects.
  • Manages and plans the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for electrical engineering projects.
  • Act as QC reviewer on projects.
  • Effectively delegates work to production support staff.
  • Nurtures existing client relationships and proactively pursues opportunities for new business.
  • Develop project proposals and participate in project pursuits.
  • Develop and deliver project-related client presentations.
  • Proactively pursues additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in-house and external training.
  • Maintain awareness of operational, technical, or regulatory changes within Electrical Engineering and AEC overall, disseminate such knowledge to staff and firm, and integrate it into existing processes and standards. 
  • Maintain and update Electrical Engineering specifications, technical documentation, and standards in collaboration with other technical leaders in Stantec.
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, and partner firms in the local and regional A/E industry.
  • Develop presentation materials and present them to clients and at strategic industry events.
  • Represent the firm through published articles, public speaking engagements, and attendance at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences."Copy and paste JD details here"

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
