About the role

The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for working with vendors and carriers, doing shipping validations, tracking all shipments, and writing SOPs. This individual will also be responsible for building a culture of continuous improvement and developing all personnel to create professional growth opportunities. We are looking for a proven performer who is a deliberate and intelligent performer. This position will report to the Warehouse Manager.


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Handles the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
  • Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, shipping and receiving area.
  • Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables.
  • Maintains an accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately.
  • Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
  • Assists with shipping validations for products. 
  • Supports with drafting and maintaining WI and SOPs as they relate to the job. 
  • Performs Daily Primary Functions in Assigned Department (Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Control).
  • Identifies all non-conforming material and processes them following established procedures.
  • Accounts for and completes all necessary receiving and fulfillment documentation. 
  • Ensures all Raw Materials and Finished goods are identified, labeled, stocked and warehoused as per procedures.
  • Follows all FIFO procedures.
  • Continually monitors inventory and administers cycle-counts as directed.
  • Ensures all work areas are always safe & clean.
  • Receives shipments from suppliers, processes through software system, transferring to the appropriate departments, ensures all paperwork is accurate etc.
  • Picks, packs, and ships customer orders, ensuring all are properly packaged, matching the label and shipping orders.
  • Packs and labels orders according to shipping method.
  • Assists with communicating with carriers to arrange domestic and international freight shipments.
  • Completes all Data-Entry efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION: 

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Requires 2-5 years' experience in shipping and receiving, ideally for a biotech or similar company
  • cGMP and/or working knowledge of ISO 13485 compliance preferred
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience
  • Scanning and sorting incoming and outgoing stock
  • Receiving, stocking, and stacking
  • Pulling, packing, and loading
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain productive working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with Company guidelines
  • Strong process mindset 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to hear and speak to employees and external associates on the phone and in person. 
  • Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision) 
  • Ability to walk and/or drive between buildings on campus, up to .3 miles for San Diego based positions 
  • Ability to lift at 25+ lbs. to a height of 3-4 feet. 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • May require travel to and from Nucleus Biologics offices or customer/vendor locations based on position.
