Let’s talk about the team and you:

At Resmed, we’re transforming the digital health landscape through connected care and data-driven experiences that empower better patient outcomes. Our Resmed Connect team enables seamless interoperability with provider systems through industry-standard protocols like RESTful, HL7 and FHIR. We focus on cloud-native architecture, modern APIs, and scalable platforms to deliver critical integrations that power connected healthcare.

As a Lead Engineer, you’ll step beyond code to influence architectural decisions, guide cross-functional teams, and shape the future of digital integrations across our platform. You'll work closely with global development teams to drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and provide leadership that inspires results. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic direction and mentorship, requiring a strong background in cloud engineering, and team leadership. Your work will directly impact how providers engage with patients and influence clinical outcomes—helping people sleep—and live—better.

Let’s talk about responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Product Ownership

  • Lead technical vision and execution for provider-facing integrations (e.g., HL7, FHIR APIs), defining architecture and guiding design decisions across teams.

  • Act as the technical SME for Resmed Connect Integration Services with a strategic view of scalability, interoperability, and security in a regulated MedTech environment.

  • Champion best practices in DevOps, observability, CI/CD, and test automation in collaboration with DevOps engineers and platform teams.

  • Maintain deep, hands-on involvement in coding, reviewing, and designing mission-critical software components and cloud-based services.

Team & Delivery Leadership

  • Guide, mentor, and influence a team of engineers (including global team members) through pair programming, design reviews, and architecture workshops.

  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to convert ambiguous business needs into well-scoped, technically sound solutions.

  • Estimating technical complexity and guiding consistent delivery of quality code.

  • Establish and reinforce a culture of accountability, velocity, and continuous improvement within the development team.

Integration & Platform Development

  • Architect and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and data pipelines that integrate with external systems and provider platforms.

  • Drive efforts to modernize and standardize integration services using industry standards and modern patterns (e.g., microservices, serverless, event-driven).

  • Contribute to the evolution of our cloud-native platform (AWS), working across services like Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway, S3, SNS/SQS, RDS/NoSQL and containerization.

  • Comfortable working in a paired programming model with AI tools—leveraging them for code generation, refactoring, documentation, and test creation.

Let’s talk about qualifications and experience:

Must-Have Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent, 10+ years of experience in large-scale enterprise application development, including 5+ years in technical leadership roles.

  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and integration tools or frameworks.

  • Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot, plus experience across the full-stack (React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) is highly preferred.

  • Proven track record of building and leading distributed teams, especially with global collaboration and Agile/Scrum practices.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native development (AWS) including compute, networking, messaging, and serverless architectures.

  • Demonstrated capability in building resilient systems with zero-downtime deployment, performance monitoring, and observability best practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in regulated industries, particularly MedTech or health IT, with knowledge of HIPAA and PHI handling.

  • Proficiency with Terraform, Kubernetes, Kafka/EventBridge, and IaC patterns.

  • Familiarity with modern DevOps and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk, X-Ray).

Let’s talk about what you can expect:

  • A leadership role where your technical depth and people skills shape the trajectory of high-impact healthcare platforms.

  • Opportunity to innovate at scale, working with talented engineers, data scientists, and clinical experts.

  • A global, inclusive team culture that encourages bold ideas and continuous growth.

  • A chance to make a difference in patients' lives through technology that connects, enables, and improves healthcare delivery.
