We are excited to be on the search for an IT Helpdesk Technician to join our growing team in the San Diego area. The ideal candidate has a strong IT background with knowledge installing systems and software in a multi-entity setting. This will have on-site or remote flexibility with heavy travel and potential after hours support for any urgent matters. 

About the Position: 

The IT Helpdesk Hardware Configuration Technician is responsible for the configuration, setup, and troubleshooting of laptops and other endpoint devices for end-users within the organization. The role involves providing technical support for hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring all devices are configured to meet the organization’s standards for security, functionality, and performance.

  • Set up new laptops for users, including installation of operating systems, necessary software, and drivers.

  • Configure laptops for network access, ensuring compliance with security policies (VPN, firewall, etc.).

  • Ensure proper software licensing and installation of office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, anti-virus, etc.).

  • Provide first-level technical support to users, assisting with hardware, software, and peripheral issues.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laptop performance, operating systems, and connectivity.

  • Handle requests for software upgrades, patches, and application troubleshooting.

  • Maintain an inventory of laptops, peripherals, and related equipment.

  • Track laptop configurations, serial numbers, and software installations for record-keeping.

  • Provide guidance and support to users regarding proper use and maintenance of their laptops.

  • Document and update user requests in the IT ticketing system, following through to resolution.

  • Ensure all devices are configured in compliance with company security policies and industry best practices.

  • Implement and configure encryption, password policies, and security updates.

  • Collaborate with other IT support staff and departments for hardware and software rollouts or upgrades.

  • Work with the IT team to resolve escalated issues or perform in-depth troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or certification in IT or related field preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional).

  • Proven experience working in an IT helpdesk, desktop support, or technical configuration role.

  • Hands-on experience with laptop hardware and operating system installations (Windows, macOS, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and peripheral devices.

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting software and network connectivity issues.

  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM) tools is a plus.

  • Familiarity with security protocols, firewalls, and encryption technologies.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.

  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
