Description

CompQsoft is seeking a highly qualified Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Department of the Navy programs requiring deep expertise in fielded systems engineering, systems integration, validation, configuration control, lifecycle support, and operational readiness. This role is intended for a senior engineer who can work across technical, operational, and program teams to ensure Navy systems are properly installed, integrated, tested, documented, sustained, and aligned to customer mission requirements.

The SME will provide technical leadership for Government-directed activities involving APT, AVG, APT-LW, AVG-LW, MAVB, SAVI, FDB, and related Navy system validation, inspection, readiness, fielding, and sustainment efforts as defined by the customer. Because these acronyms are not clearly verifiable in public source material, the final released requisition should replace each acronym with its official program or system name at first reference.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior field systems engineering advisor for Navy programs involving system installation, integration, technical refresh, fielding, sustainment, validation, and operational readiness.
  • Lead planning and execution for activities tied to APT, AVG, APT-LW, AVG-LW, MAVB, SAVI, FDB, and other customer-defined Navy systems, test events, inspections, validations, or fleet support efforts.
  • Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams that may include field engineers, systems engineers, technicians, installers, logisticians, testers, and configuration management personnel.
  • Translate customer requirements into engineering tasks, integration plans, technical schedules, field execution packages, and status reporting for program leadership and Government stakeholders.

Systems Engineering and Integration

  • Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system definition, interface coordination, integration planning, verification, validation, and transition to operations.
  • Review engineering documentation, drawings, interface definitions, technical baselines, and installation packages to ensure fielded systems align with approved requirements and operational use cases.
  • Lead or support system integration activities involving hardware, software, networks, operator workstations, peripheral devices, and mission-support equipment in Navy environments.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and integration issues early and work with program, engineering, and fleet stakeholders to resolve them before they affect schedule or mission performance.

Fielding, Testing, and Readiness

  • Support on-site fielding, installation oversight, checkout, system turnover, and fleet introduction activities for Navy systems and associated support equipment.
  • Lead or coordinate system test events, technical verification, validation, troubleshooting, discrepancy tracking, corrective actions, and readiness assessments to confirm systems are operationally suitable and mission-capable.
  • Provide direct support for maintenance availability periods, modernization events, technical insertions, and engineering changes affecting fielded systems.
  • Ensure field activity results, lessons learned, deficiencies, and technical recommendations are documented and communicated to program offices and support organizations.

Configuration, Documentation, and Sustainment

  • Support configuration management and change control processes for system hardware, software, interfaces, technical manuals, and fielded baselines.
  • Review and maintain engineering documentation, test records, installation guidance, logistics products, and technical data packages required to support field execution and sustainment.
  • Coordinate with logistics, maintenance, training, and supply stakeholders to help ensure systems are supportable throughout the lifecycle.
  • Assist with discrepancy resolution, engineering change implementation, and baseline updates to improve reliability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in Navy, Marine Corps, or broader DoD systems engineering, field engineering, integration, test, installation, or sustainment roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting fielded systems, technical baselines, integration activities, test and evaluation, configuration management, and operational support in Navy or DoD environments.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle principles, engineering documentation, verification and validation, and transition of systems into operational use.
  • Experience working directly with Government stakeholders, engineering teams, and fleet or end-user organizations to resolve system issues and support readiness objectives.
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting, integration planning, field execution, and post-installation follow-through for complex technical systems.
  • Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret or TS/SCI preferred, depending on customer needs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Direct experience with Navy-specific systems, platforms, or customer-defined programs associated with APT, AVG, APT-LW, AVG-LW, MAVB, SAVI, FDB, or equivalent mission systems and field support efforts.
  • Experience with mission systems engineering support, C5ISR or C6ISR integration, test planning, fielding, and sustainment in shore, shipboard, aviation, or expeditionary environments.
  • Familiarity with technical data packages, interface control documents, installation drawings, logistics documentation, maintenance planning, and readiness reporting.
  • Experience supporting modernization events, engineering change proposals, discrepancy resolution boards, and fleet introduction activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, electronics, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
