Position Summary:

We're looking for an exceptional AI Engineer to be a force multiplier for the Strategy org and a major contributor to Walden’s internal agent platform. This is a hybrid role for an AI-native operator who builds modern agentic systems with extreme ownership and equal comfort across the technical and the commercial. You'll split your time roughly 80% on strategy-org workflows (deal sourcing and qualification, GTM automation and CRM Ops, market intelligence, due diligence, context management) and 20% on the shared internal agent infrastructure, working alongside our systems engineers to make every Walden operator agent-augmented. You'll close the feedback loop on agents you own, design self-improvement loops, and make your work reusable across the company.

Core Responsibilities:

  • CSO direct collaboration: Serve as the CSO's thought partner on agentic systems for strategic initiatives, prototype analytical frameworks fast, and execute special projects spanning GTM, partnerships, fundraising, modeling, and customer-data strategy.
  • CSO vertical agents (~80%): Design and ship AI agents and pipelines for market mapping, segmentation, customer discovery, deal-flow management, contract triage, executive comms, market intelligence, and CRM automation. Use a stack combining Anthropic, OpenAI, custom LLM pipelines, internal and external data sources, and modern CRM integrations. Build the single source of truth that powers strategic KPIs and executive decisions.
  • Internal agent platform (~20%): Co-develop the shared infrastructure that lets other Walden teams build and run their own agents safely and observably. Ship reusable patterns and primitives the rest of the company adopts.
  • Cross-functional integration: Bridge strategy, finance, product, engineering, and operations through direct collaboration, real-time dashboards, scenario planning, and workflow automation. Translate technical reality into commercial framing and back.

Required Qualifications:

  • CS or Engineering undergraduate degree.
  • Track record owning ambitious AI-native projects end-to-end at a frontier startup or research lab, with the ability to operate without close supervision under uncertainty.
  • Demonstrated expertise building production agentic workflows with modern AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenAI / Anthropic Agents SDK, open source tools).
  • Experience in Python, data engineering, API integrations, and workflow automation.
  • Experience with LLM evals, observability, and optimization (Langfuse, Weights & Biases).
  • Comfortable context-switching between technical implementation and strategic thinking, and between writing code and writing prompts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain knowledge in robotics, autonomous vehicles, enterprise AI, or similar markets.
  • Track record building 0 to 1 analytical tools that drove important business decisions.
  • Experience in venture capital, corporate development, or strategic consulting.
