About This Role

We’re looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our team! In this role, you’ll pair meticulous legal drafting and deft negotiation skills with top-notch project management to execute strategic commercial agreements for teammates across all departments. We’re looking for someone excited about providing commercial support to further our mission of connecting the world through movement. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders, users, our community, and vendors. Come join a low-ego, high-impact in-house legal function, where you’ll report to Strava’s Deputy General Counsel, Corporate and Commercial.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco or New York office — three days per week.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be responsible for providing practical day-to-day commercial legal support to the Strava for Business team, including negotiation of our sponsored challenge agreements.

  • Support cross-functional teams on negotiation of a wide variety of vendor, partnership, consulting, data protection, API and licensing agreements.

  • Develop and maintain enablement materials including legal playbooks, FAQs, training, and self-service materials for our cross-functional partners.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • You have 4+ years of experience in commercial negotiations and contract drafting

  • You have a mix of top law firm and in-house experience at a multinational, consumer-facing technology company

  • You find innovative, practical solutions to complex contracting challenges, balancing risk tolerance with business objectives

  • You love to negotiate a good deal and advocate for and protect the interests of the business

  • You can clearly distill complex legal concepts into actionable guidance and influence at all levels of the organization
