About the Role
This is a founding-level engineering role at an agentic integration platform serving the real economy. The company's agents perform real work with real consequences inside production systems — think shift-based staffing, logistics, and flexible labor markets. You will own the agent layer end-to-end, working directly with the CTO as a peer from day one. This is a rare opportunity to build production-scale agentic systems at a moment when very few teams have shipped them.
What You'll Build
A context and self-learning system: A compounding knowledge base of undocumented integrations, so that connecting the 1,000th company is dramatically better than connecting the first.
Self-healing workflows: Agents that autonomously detect, diagnose, and recover from production failures without human intervention.
A meta-harness: The runtime harness that agents execute on, plus the tooling layer that enables the team to build, evaluate, and ship new agents in days.
What You'll Do
Own the full agent layer: context engineering, self-learning, evals, harness architecture, and meta-harness design.
Set the patterns and standards for how every agent at the company is built, measured, and continuously improved.
Experiment relentlessly alongside founders and help shape the technical direction of the product.
Contribute to hiring and eventually grow into leading the team responsible for agentic systems.
What We're Looking For
Required:
Hands-on experience building agentic software within the last year — this field moves fast and recency matters.
Deep familiarity with harness-centric agent development: context engineering and eval-driven iteration.
Strong understanding of agent tracing and evaluation frameworks.
An implementation-first mindset — you ship working systems in production, not research prototypes.
Comfort with the tech stack: TypeScript, Effect-TS, PostgreSQL, and LLMs / agent frameworks.
Nice to Have:
Prior experience at a high-caliber engineering organization (e.g., large tech, top-tier consulting, or developer tooling).
Background working on integration platforms, workflow automation, or marketplace infrastructure.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $150,000 – $300,000 USD annually, depending on experience.
Founding engineer equity participation.
Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
This role is on-site in San Francisco, CA. Remote work is not available for this position.
