About the Role
We're a fast-growing, YC-backed manufacturing platform connecting aerospace and defense customers with top US suppliers — helping complex parts move from CAD to production at speed. As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll sit at the intersection of engineering and commercial impact, turning inbound customer requests into quoted, converted orders every day. Your technical judgment directly drives revenue.
What You'll Do
Review inbound customer RFQs by reading 2D engineering drawings and CAD files to identify critical tolerances, materials, finishes, and manufacturing requirements.
Match parts to the right US suppliers based on capabilities, capacity, and past performance, then manage the quoting process end-to-end.
Work directly with customers and suppliers to resolve technical questions, accelerate quote turnaround, and convert RFQs into paid orders.
Manage a high volume of concurrent requests with urgency, treating every customer interaction as a revenue opportunity.
Build supplier and customer relationships while contributing to the improvement of internal processes and tooling that power the manufacturing platform.
What We're Looking For
1–2 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial engineering role.
Hands-on experience personally ordering or sourcing custom manufactured parts from suppliers — this is essential.
Ability to read and interpret complex 2D engineering drawings, including GD&T, tolerances, materials, finishes, and critical features.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including materials, fixturing, and machine types.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
Experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure startup or hardware environment.
Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and additive manufacturing processes (FDM, SLA, SLS, DMLS) is a plus.
Background in hands-on college engineering design teams (e.g., formula SAE, rocket propulsion labs, or similar) is a plus.
Exposure to Python or other scripting tools is a plus.
Must be a U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) — required for ITAR compliance. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
This is a fully on-site role based in San Francisco, CA.
