About the Role:
Presidential Staffing Solutions, LLC is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant specializing in Medical Coding Services to join our VISN 21 team in San Francisco, CA. Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate medical coding using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems for patient records and claims
- Review and abstract clinical documentation to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and VISN 21 coding guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with clinical staff and physicians to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
- Support medical billing processes by providing properly coded records for claims submission
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance standards at all times
- Audit coded records for accuracy and completeness, identifying areas for improvement
Requirements:
- Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, or RHIA) preferred
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding
- Prior experience in medical coding within a VA, federal, or VISN healthcare setting is a plus
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation standards
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain required federal security clearance or background check
