Member of Technical Staff

About the Role

This is an early engineering hire at a Y Combinator–backed AI recruiting marketplace, working directly with the founding team to build the intelligent systems that power talent matching across hundreds of high-growth startups. You'll have high ownership over core platform architecture and the opportunity to shape both technical direction and engineering culture from the ground up.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement intelligent search, retrieval, and recommendation systems that drive core marketplace matching.

• Build ML-driven ranking and retrieval pipelines using embeddings, structured signals, and behavioral data.

• Ship full-stack product features end-to-end — from database schema and APIs to user-facing interfaces.

• Develop AI-native automation workflows that help recruiters source faster and help companies evaluate talent more efficiently.

• Own core marketplace infrastructure including recruiter routing, candidate evaluation pipelines, and coordination systems.

• Launch features quickly, gather real user feedback, and iterate rapidly.

What We're Looking For

• 1–3 years of software engineering experience with meaningful exposure to AI or ML systems.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python across frontend and backend development; familiarity with a modern full-stack such as Next.js and Supabase is a plus.

• Hands-on comfort with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval pipelines.

• Experience designing APIs and working with relational databases (e.g. Postgres); familiarity with AWS RDS is a plus.

• Product-minded builder who cares about UX and can independently turn ambiguous problems into working systems.

• Comfortable moving fast in an early-stage environment with evolving specs and shifting priorities.

• Prior experience with marketplace products, search, or recommendation systems is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 – $200,000 USD annually, plus equity. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
