This is what you will do:Ā 

TheĀ NF1 PNĀ Patient Education ManagersĀ (PEMs)Ā areĀ an empathetic and trusted educational resource for NF1 patients and families. They areĀ responsible for engaging with theĀ localĀ NF1 patient community via 1:1 meetings; conducting unbranded and branded patient educationĀ at scale throughĀ programs; and (in close collaboration with Alexion’s Patient Advocacy team) partnering with local and regional NF1 advocacy groups toĀ furtherĀ raise awareness of NF1 burden, NF1 disease progression, and NF1 PN treatment.Ā 

In addition toĀ these responsibilities,Ā PEMs alsoĀ referĀ patients and caregiversĀ toĀ Case ManagersĀ for case management support when starting on Alexion therapyĀ andĀ connectĀ the NF1 community, as appropriate,Ā to local advocacy networks and approved resources to best supportĀ patients and their families throughĀ theĀ treatment journey.Ā Ā 

You willĀ be responsible for:Ā 

  • Developing,Ā in close partnership withĀ Alexion Patient Advocacy andĀ NF1 PN brand marketing,Ā aĀ regionalĀ patient engagementĀ planĀ thatĀ strategicallyĀ supports commercial prioritiesĀ Ā Ā 

  • CoordinatingĀ frequentlyĀ withĀ key cross functional partnersĀ toĀ execute local patient outreach compliantly and effectivelyĀ (e.g.: Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Market Access, Medical, PatientĀ Advocacy, Patient Services, etc.)Ā 

  • EducatingĀ patients andĀ caregiversĀ via 1:1Ā meetings, including face-to-face interactions,Ā aboutĀ NF1 disease state,Ā NF1 PNĀ treatment,Ā andĀ Alexion’s patient support programsĀ 

  • When possible, conducting impactfulĀ in-personĀ orĀ virtualĀ educational events on behalf of AlexionĀ to deliver disease and product information at scaleĀ 

  • Building a robust rare disease network of NF1 PN advocates via active participation in local advocacy eventsĀ toĀ identifyĀ educational needs,Ā raise disease awareness, andĀ promote patient empowermentĀ 

  • Delivering on data driven performanceĀ objectivesĀ and effectivelyĀ tracking and communicatingĀ year-to-dateĀ progress toĀ cross functional partners andĀ Alexion leadershipĀ 

You will need to have:Ā 

  • Minimum of 4 years business experience in the healthcareĀ industryĀ 

  • Experience engagingĀ withĀ patients and caregivers with rare/chronic conditionsĀ 

  • EmpathyĀ for others with proven ability to listen well, connect meaningfully,Ā and present complex information in a clear and engaging manner during 1:1Ā meetingsĀ 

  • High initiative, solid work ethic,Ā andĀ consistentĀ accountabilityĀ 

  • Ability to adaptĀ quickly and commitment to react positivelyĀ toĀ frequent changeĀ in a high-energy,Ā fast paced environmentĀ 

  • Excellent presentation skills to diverse stakeholders in varied settings that will include groupsĀ ofĀ  150+ peopleĀ Ā Ā 

  • Strong organizational capabilities that willĀ facilitateĀ strategic and efficientĀ territoryĀ managementĀ overĀ a largeĀ geographyĀ 

  • Ability to travel 60-80% ofĀ time, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to attendĀ in-personĀ impromptu trainings, educational programs, and businessĀ meetingsĀ as necessary.Ā Potential territoryĀ to cover includes the followingĀ states:Ā Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, NorthĀ Dakota,Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, WyomingĀ 

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving recordĀ 

  • BA/BSĀ degree is preferred,Ā advanced degree a plusĀ

We wouldĀ preferĀ forĀ you to have:Ā 

  • At leastĀ threeĀ yearsĀ field-based experience in account management, patient education, or salesĀ 

  • ExperienceĀ assistingĀ patients/caregiversĀ Ā 

  • Background in advocacy,Ā nursing, rare disease support, or social workĀ 

  • Understanding of community engagement groups and non-profit organizationsĀ Ā 

  • Understanding ofĀ managed care and self-administered productsĀ Ā 

  • FamiliarityĀ with relevant legal and regulatory components of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries;Ā rare disease specific knowledge of these elements isĀ a plusĀ 

  • Knowledge ofĀ Oncologic, Neurologic, or Rare DiseaseĀ conditionsĀ Ā 

  • Bilingual, Fluent in reading and speaking SpanishĀ 

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $135,332 to $202,998. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Ā  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
