Poseidon Aerospace builds and operates unmanned planes for commercial logistics and defense missions. Our two full-size fixed-wing platforms - Heron, a seaplane, and Egret, a STOL aircraft - can carry two tons of payload over a thousand nautical miles. We are headquartered in San Francisco with satellite offices in Washington, DC and Maine.

As a Propulsion Engineer at Poseidon Aerospace, you will lead the selection, integration, and validation of powerplants across our fleet, including MoGas, AvGas, and turboprop systems. Your focus will be delivering propulsion solutions that are reliable, efficient, and fully integrated into our aircraft.

 

Responsibilities:

 
  • Select, evaluate, and integrate piston and turboprop powerplants into aircraft platforms.

  • Define propulsion system architecture, including engine installation, mounts, cooling, exhaust, and fuel delivery.

  • Perform analysis and testing to validate performance, efficiency, and reliability under flight conditions.

  • Integrate propulsion with avionics, structures, and fuel systems, ensuring safety and certification compliance.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to take propulsion systems from concept to flight test.

  • Document propulsion design decisions, test results, and integration strategies.

 

Qualifications:

 
  • Strong background in aircraft propulsion with hands-on piston or turboprop integration experience.

  • Knowledge of MoGas, AvGas, and turboprop engines, including installation and maintenance.

  • Proficiency in CAD for powerplant installation and integration.

  • Experience validating engine systems through ground and flight testing.

  • Strong collaboration skills to align propulsion design across disciplines.
