About Nunchux AI

Nunchux AI builds infrastructure that makes multimodal generative AI faster and cheaper to serve, and easier to build on. Founded by MIT PhDs Muyang Li, Yujun Lin, and Zhekai Zhang with CMU Professor Jun-Yan Zhu, Nunchux brings together deep research expertise and production systems experience. Our work is built on nearly a decade of research from MIT and CMU, including nunchaku project, whose models have surpassed 4 million downloads. We have top VC backing, and we build for enterprises and for millions of developers.

The Role

Nunchux is building a growing set of web and developer surfaces: Modelverse, the Playground, the dashboard, the CMS, billing, authentication, the API, and the documentation. As a Software Engineer on our web platform, you will build the CMS and the automated systems that keep those surfaces reliable as we ship.

This is a software engineering role, not a manual QA role. You will write code, investigate failures, and work directly with product engineers to improve coverage and release quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Build our CMS: Design and build the CMS workflows we need to publish and update model pages, examples, blog posts, documentation, and other website content, without a code deploy for every change.

  • Build automated tests: Write and maintain end-to-end, regression, and API tests for the critical product flows. These include sign-up, authentication, billing, API keys, CMS workflows, documentation, and Playground runs.

  • Validate the developer experience: Test API endpoints, SDKs, documentation, and code examples, so that developers can move from their first API call to a working integration.

  • Improve release quality: Add reliable test coverage to CI/CD and to preview deployments. Run release checks, investigate failures, and work with the engineer who owns the code to resolve them.

  • Monitor product health: Set up and maintain lightweight error tracking and synthetic checks, so that we find issues before customers report them.

What You Bring

  • Software engineering experience: 3+ years of building and shipping production web products, including hands-on experience with automated testing, SDET work, or test infrastructure.

  • Strong coding skills: Comfortable in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python. Able to build web product features and test infrastructure, debug product behavior, validate APIs, and write small tools or reproduction cases.

  • Test automation: Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar end-to-end testing frameworks, as well as with CI/CD workflows.

  • Debugging and systems thinking: Comfortable using logs, error tracking, and synthetic checks to find, communicate, and resolve issues across user-facing products.

  • Working style: Able to work independently in a fast-moving environment, and to close gaps without a large process around you.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Vercel deployments, preview environments, or production validation.

  • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling.

  • Experience with Sentry, Checkly, Datadog, Grafana, or similar monitoring tools.

  • Experience testing developer tools, APIs, billing, authentication, CMS workflows, or dashboards.

  • Familiarity with OpenAPI, Postman, Bruno, Mintlify, or similar API tooling.

Why Join

  • Build the foundation: Help establish how Nunchux manages website content, tests its product, and ships reliably.

  • Broad product scope: Work across Modelverse, the Playground, the dashboard, the CMS, the API, and the documentation.

  • Proven traction: Build on open-source work with more than 4 million model downloads, and on growing industry partnerships.

  • The team: Work with researchers from MIT, Berkeley, and CMU, and with industry veterans from NVIDIA, AMD, Snowflake, and Adobe.

  • Compensation: $160,000 to $230,000 USD base salary, plus equity and comprehensive benefits that include health insurance and a 401(k). Actual compensation will depend on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
