                                         Temporary Part-time Shift Supervisor - Taimon Booton Navigation Center

* This is an initial 2-month contract role, with the opportunity to extend.

 Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for general oversight and supervision of the day-to-day operations, programming, staffing, and client services at TBNC. The Shift Supervisor is part of the leadership team and is the central point of contact responsible for responding to the needs of both staff and participants, in addition to supporting the team wherever needed and addressing escalated issues as they arise. The Shift Supervisor will take part in the shared work of a diverse, multidisciplinary team to provide a nurturing, welcoming, and safe place for people to shelter and explore options for permanent housing.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain strong professional and courteous behavior toward clients and staff.
  • Uphold and model strong professional boundaries with guests and staff.
  • Ensure staff are on-site and equipped to provide the best service to program clients and ensure consistent provision of services.
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for clients; address day-to-day situations as they arise and escalate serious issues to the Site Director.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and consultation to staff with the support of the Director.
  • Participate in the implementation of TBNC policies and procedures.
  • Participate in shift meetings.
  • Complete daily shift reports and communicate any incidents to the Leadership team immediately.
  • Attend shifts on time and demonstrate reliability.
  • Work with extreme integrity — doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
  • Regularly meet with staff and participants to address disciplinary actions and accountability, ensuring a trauma-informed client experience.
  • Ensure that TBNC staff are familiar with and up-to-date on trainings, and that they understand and adhere to the TBNC policy manual.
  • De-escalate crisis situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Multitask and remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work on weekends and/or holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.
  • At least one year of experience working with people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, people who use substances (including injection drugs), those experiencing homelessness, people with mental health challenges, people with disabilities, and people living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C.
  • Comfortable and culturally competent in working with LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data, and communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated reliability and strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work professionally and ethically within multiracial and multicultural settings.
  • Ability to provide customer service in an effective, courteous, and friendly manner to meet the needs of a diverse clientele.
  • Some evening and weekend hours required.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including booster shot(s), with proof of vaccination.
  • Up to date with vaccinations, including the seasonal flu vaccine.
  • Proof of TB clearance issued within the past 12 months.
