The Role – Overview

The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of hotel building systems and equipment, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical distribution systems, plumbing, life safety systems, and other mechanical infrastructure. This role helps ensure the hotel operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations while maintaining the highest standards of guest comfort and service. The Stationary Engineer responds to equipment issues, performs preventive maintenance, and supports the Engineering team in protecting the hotel's physical assets.

 Key Duties 

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain building mechanical systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC equipment, pumps, and associated controls.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment, mechanical rooms, guest areas, and back-of-house facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hotel equipment and infrastructure in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system failures to minimize operational disruption and guest impact.
  • Monitor building automation systems, utility consumption, and equipment performance to optimize energy efficiency and system reliability.
  • Respond promptly to engineering service calls and emergency situations, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, equipment readings, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Support hotel renovation, capital improvement, and special projects as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, environmental standards, and operating procedures.
  • Assist with testing and maintenance of life safety systems, including fire alarm, emergency power, and emergency response equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all engineering and plant areas.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other departments to support operational needs and project activities.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and be available for after-hours support as required.
  • Promote a culture of workplace safety, guest service excellence, and continuous improvement.
