Position Summary 

The East Bay Climate Resilience Corps will work to implement projects to address critical environmental, climate, and conservation needs in parks and open spaces across the East Bay Area, CA. Projects will occur at Meek Park (urban agriculture), East Bay Regional Parks (wildlife monitoring, habitat restoration), Sausal Creek/Joaquin Miller Park (trail improvements), and other sites to be determined. 

 

The team will have Friday recreation and education opportunities and the second to last week of work will be a camping trip to a National Forest outside the Bay Area with the opportunity to learn from local rangers and continue work projects. All gear and food will be provided on the camping trip; members will learn how to set up tents, and cook and live outdoors safely, under guidance from crew leaders.

 

SCA leaders will pick up and drop off members at central location (e.g., BART). Members are expected to be prepared for the workday: on time, with their lunch and water packed. Participants should wear all leather boots to work each day. SCA has a limited number of boots to loan members who don't have their own. Working environment might be cool in the morning and possibly hot during the day; crew members should dress in layers to be prepared. SCA will provide gloves, helmet, eye protection, and training in the safe use of hand tools.

 

Applicants to the Senior Member position should have prior experience with SCA or in other outdoor leadership or conservation work and be willing to take a leadership role on the crew.

 

Acceptance of this position means the members understands it is a full-time commitment during the dates of the program and will communicate to their crew leaders if there is any potential conflict.

Schedule 

June 26, 2026 - August 3, 2026 

Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break

Friday - 8:00am - 1:30pm with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Support leaders and team in daily tasks, including morning circle and at events.
  • As a senior member, role model positive work ethic and help to build a safe and inclusive environment for the team.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled workdays either at the work site or designated meeting location
  • Help to lead team in hands on physical service work.

 

Marginal Duties 

  • Support member timecard submission
  • Support leader with tracking metrics
  • Support members creating a final presentation and/or social media reel

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Previous experience with SCA crews or similar required
  • Responsiveness to all communications from SCA leaders and Staff
  • Ability to commit to all program dates Interest and ability to step up as a leader

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Conservation work experience
  • Skills with graphic design or social media content creation

Hours 

35 per week

2 extra 7.5 hour days pre and post full crew for leadership training and debrief

Compensation  

  • $19.00/hour

All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
