About the Role

THE OPPORTUNITY.

As Sr. Design Manager, Store Design, you are responsible for managing the design process from initial conceptual stages through successful completion of store design initiatives. This role includes managing internal and external teams in delivering store experience projects. You bring creative solutions through brand knowledge, retail design expertise balanced with Gap Inc. strategies and financial goals.

This is a role responsible for store design, fostering a creative process, guide decision-making, shaping brand experience, cross-functional relationships and design strategy.

What You'll Do

THE RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Act as a design ambassador managing and structuring the creative process to foster cross functional collaboration and communication with brand partners
  • Exceptional designer with the ability to develop and convey compelling designs and describe considerations, implementation strategies, and overall design direction succinctly
  • Responsible for complex coordination to gain alignment and consensus
  • Manage and assist internal business partners and external consultants on project specific basis ensuring adherence to established project budget and timeline
  • Provide solutions that are thoughtful in design intent
  • Pro-actively keep up with industry trends in retail experience and design
  • Exceptional designer with the ability to develop and convey compelling designs and describe considerations, implementation strategies, and overall design direction succinctly
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills required to develop strong working relationship across business groups and key stakeholders at all levels
  • Experienced in developing comprehensive presentations and documentation packages with excellent graphic verbal, written, and presentation skills

Who You Are

KEY EXPERIENCES.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive design experience in architecture, interiors, experiential and brand creative that elevate brand excellence.  (3+ years of retail design experience preferred)
  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or related field
  • Strength in managing a design team in the delivery of complex projects varying in scale, budget, and size. Proven ability to work independently as well as guide teams across a mix of complex projects.
  • Good understanding of materials and methods in architecture, interior design and fixture design
  • Proven design management, architecture, interiors or related industry experience working with cross-functional teams globally, in corporate or design environments
  • Excellent understanding of design principals with the ability to translate ideas, forms, and functions into cohesive design concepts with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects/priorities concurrently in a fast-paced, high growth, and results driven environment
  • Self-starter and capable individual contributor with ability to assess relatively complex situations and analyze data to make judgments and recommend solutions
  • Demonstrated expertise and proficiency in design software to support the design process (SketchUp, Rhino, VRay, Escape, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and Miro).  Ability to diagram, sketch, prepare layouts, 3D visualization, massing studies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
  • Ability to manage diverse range of priorities and agile to adapt to change
