We areĀ seekingĀ a talented individual to join ourĀ Defined Contribution ConsultingĀ team atĀ Mercer,Ā a Marsh business. This role will be based anywhere near a MercerĀ office with slight preference in the West.Ā This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.Ā 

As a Senior Defined Contribution Consultant, you will partner with other Retirement and Investments colleagues and client managers to tell the story that differentiates Mercer.  You will be expected to take the lead in selling and delivering non-investment related project work and retainer servicesĀ to existing Mercer clients and prospects.  You will work with clients that sponsor large defined contribution plans (typically over $1BĀ in assets) by designing customized solutions to meet their strategic needs. You will be expected to bring leadership andĀ expertiseĀ to both the local market and the broader national DC ConsultingĀ team, andĀ participate in the development of intellectual capital and mentoringĀ junior consultants.Ā 

We will count on you to:Ā Ā 

  • Cultivate,Ā leadĀ andĀ participateĀ in new business proposals to prospects and extend the range of services provided to existing Mercer clients asĀ appropriate;Ā identifyingĀ opportunities to sell DC consulting services andĀ developing new client relationships will be a focusĀ 

  • Serve asĀ one ofĀ Mercer’sĀ expertsĀ internally and in the marketplace on defined contribution plansĀ 

  • Sell,Ā leadĀ and deliver client projects involving plan design, recordkeeping vendor management, vendor search and fee benchmarking, Committee governance, compliance reviews, and administration consultingĀ toĀ primarily corporate planĀ sponsorsĀ withĀ complex DCĀ programsĀ 

  • AssistĀ with the expansion of services to existing clients byĀ maintainingĀ ongoing relationships,Ā identifyingĀ opportunities for expandedĀ servicesĀ and supporting investment retainer clientsĀ 

  • Help to guide and direct execution of long-term DC strategy while providing direction and focusĀ inĀ the local market; engage and train staff to deliver services to large or jumbo clientsĀ 

  • Routinely use Mercer intellectual capital, andĀ participateĀ in development of DC intellectual capital for the USĀ 

  • Mentor junior staff to enhance technical knowledge as well as client facing skills and expand DCĀ expertiseĀ through regular project interactions and direct coachingĀ 

  • Participate in internal initiatives to support the growth of the DC Retirement businessĀ 

  • Stay current with the DC regulatory and legislative landscape to bring awareness to clients and internal staff, as appropriate  

What you need to have:Ā Ā 

  • Bachelor’s degreeĀ 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experienceĀ inĀ Ā consultingĀ on DC non-investmentĀ issuesĀ with proven ability to sell and deliver Defined Contribution retirement consulting services to senior business leadersĀ 

  • Expert working knowledge of retirement plan design and operations: nondiscrimination testing, compliance, planĀ administrationĀ and governance as well as the relevant DC vendor marketplaceĀ 

  • ExperienceĀ working with andĀ presenting toĀ Fortune 500Ā retirementĀ committees,Ā executive leadershipĀ committeesĀ and C-level executivesĀ 

  • Proven sales results selling DC consulting servicesĀ 

  • ExperienceĀ Ā leadingĀ large complex projects and managing client expectationsĀ 

  • Risk identification and implementation of solutions for clientsĀ 

  • Time managementĀ 

  • Proven financial project management

The applicable base salary range for this role is $142,500 to $285,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
