Role Purpose

The EHS Director is responsible for developing, directing, and strategically leading the environmental compliance, health, and safety programs across multiple manufacturing sites for The Partner Companies. This role ensures regulatory compliance, drives continuous improvement in safety performance, and owns the company-wide EHS tracking and reporting system. The position partners with site leadership and executive leadership to establish and sustain a proactive safety culture and minimize risk across all operations.

The EHS Director serves as the organization’s senior EHS leader, providing strategic direction, enterprise-wide governance, and leadership oversight for all environmental, health, safety, and sustainability initiatives. This role is responsible for aligning EHS objectives with overall business goals while driving operational excellence, risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all locations.

Scope & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions
• Direct and oversee enterprise-wide environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple manufacturing sites
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA)
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs
• Own and administer the company-wide EHS tracking system, including incident reporting, corrective actions, audits, and compliance metrics
• Analyze EHS data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities; provide regular reporting to leadership
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments; ensure timely resolution of findings
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions
• Partner with site leaders to drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Manage environmental programs, including waste management, air emissions, water compliance, and sustainability initiatives
• Coordinate and support regulatory inspections and external audits
• Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for compliance and internal standards
• Deliver EHS training and support employee engagement initiatives
• Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices
• Develop and execute long-term EHS strategic plans aligned with company operational and growth objectives
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development for site-level EHS personnel and cross-functional teams
• Establish company-wide EHS performance metrics, KPIs, and accountability measures
• Lead enterprise risk management initiatives related to environmental, health, and safety exposure
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and executive leadership regarding EHS matters
• Drive sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives across the organization
• Develop annual EHS budgets, capital improvement plans, and resource allocation strategies
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing, behavioral safety, and operational excellence principles
• Support mergers, acquisitions, facility expansions, and new site integrations from an EHS compliance and risk perspective

Work Experience & Skills

• Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience: 
  • 10–15+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or locations strongly preferred
  • Proven track record managing regulatory compliance and safety programs
  • Experience implementing or managing EHS management systems and tracking tools
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership or director-level EHS role preferred
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide EHS strategy within a multi-site manufacturing organization
  • Demonstrated success reducing incident rates and driving measurable safety performance improvements
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, and cross-functional organizational initiatives
• Skills / Knowledge: 
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental regulations
  • Experience with EHS software systems and data analytics/reporting
  • Root cause analysis and incident investigation expertise
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS tracking platforms
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational leadership capabilities
  • Experience presenting EHS performance and initiatives to executive leadership
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems preferred
  • Strong financial and operational acumen related to EHS program management

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements (if applicable)

• Work environment includes a combination of office and manufacturing floor settings across multiple locations
• Regular travel to manufacturing sites required
• Ability to walk production floors, conduct inspections, and wear required PPE
• May require lifting, standing, and exposure to typical manufacturing conditions
• Travel may include domestic and occasional international locations, depending on business operations
