Summary

The Hardware Platform Solutions team at Celestica is looking for an Electronics Technician to provide technical support for a team of 50-100 Engineers

Detailed Description

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY DUTIES:

 

  1. Electrical Troubleshooting, repairs and designs circuits and fabricates electronic test equipment.
  2. Working with fine-pitch (0402, 0201) soldering and PCB rework in an R&D lab
  3. Software upgrades; tests, debugs, configures and documents software as required to meet user needs.
  4. Network IP setup configuration Install and monitor network operating system software.
  5. Load and configure software utilities or applications used to facilitate the operation of computers.
  6. Install new equipment and modify current installations using various manual and power tools such as hand drill, drill press, etc.
  7. Modified and built harness cables as needed.
  8. Order and maintain inventory parts for electronic equipment; maintains warranty, service and repair records;
  9. Work with vendors to obtain pricing and availability of needed parts
  10. Performs incoming inspections on delivered equipment to ensure proper operation.
  11. Ability to read and understand electrical engineering drawings, including schematics, layouts and other technical documents
  12. Ability to follow verbal or written procedures and instructions
  13. Comfortable using power tools such as cutting tools, electronic screwdrivers, power drills, Dremel tools, etc
  14. Hands-on skills to disassemble and reassemble electronic devices
  15. Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  16. Team oriented with good communication skills and ability to multitask
  17. Ability to use oscilloscopes (including all controls), and an understanding of the limitations of various models (e.g., frequency response)
  18. Ability to document and organize work using Microsoft office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel
  19. Experience with BGA, 01005 components rework is a huge plus

Compensation Data

Salary Range: $65k-$92k Annually

The salary range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including by not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate. 

 

Compensation includes the Base Salary and the target Short-Term Incentive (STI)/ bonus.  A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this.

  • Must have skills

    • Electrical Design & Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting, repairing, and designing circuits; fabricating electronic test equipment.
    • High-Precision Soldering: Working with fine-pitch 0402 and 0201 soldering and performing PCB rework in an R&D lab.
    • Software Configuration: Loading and configuring software utilities or applications to facilitate computer operations.
    • Mechanical Fabrication: Installing and modifying equipment using manual and power tools like hand drills and drill presses.
    • Cable Harnessing: Modifying and building harness cables as needed.
    • Lab Operations & Logistics: Ordering and maintaining inventory for electronic equipment; managing warranty, service, and repair records.
    • Vendor Relations: Coordinating with vendors for pricing and availability of necessary parts.
    • Quality Assurance: Performing incoming inspections on delivered equipment to ensure proper operation.
    • Technical Documentation: Ability to read and understand electrical engineering drawings, including schematics, layouts, and other technical documents.
    • Manual Dexterity: Hands-on skills to disassemble and reassemble electronic devices.
    • Advanced Diagnostic Tools: Ability to use oscilloscopes (including all controls) with an understanding of model limitations, such as frequency response.
    • Professionalism: Ability to follow verbal/written procedures, work with minimal supervision, and function in a team-oriented, multitasking environment.

     

     

    Good to Have  Skills

    • Software Maintenance: Performing software upgrades; testing, debugging, and documenting software based on user needs
    • Networking: Network IP setup configuration; installing and monitoring network operating system software.
    • Advanced Components (Huge Plus): Experience with BGA (Ball Grid Array) and 01005 component rework.
     



Physical Demands

  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

  • Five years+ in a relevant position

Typical Education

  • Completion of Electronics Technology certificate program or equivalent experience.
