The organization distributes nutritious groceries through a network of nearly 400 partners at drive-thru and walk-up sites across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. To learn more about how Second Harvest is responding to the incredible amount of need in Silicon Valley, visit shfb.org.   About the Position The main responsibilities of this role include developing expertise within a particular geographical region, forming deep community relationships, and managing food distribution programs to provide ongoing nutritious food access for low-income individuals and families. Regional Program Managers are experts in their region and act as a primary liaison for a portfolio of 501(c)(3) nonprofit partners and Second Harvest programs. The role manages relationships, ensures collaboration with partners, develops alignment between organizations, and optimizes the food distribution process while leveraging all resources effectively. For Second Harvest programs, the incumbent manages all aspects of food distributions, including onsite operations, volunteer management, and best-in-class client experience. The position dedicates 30-50% of the time to working actively in the community, addressing root causes of hunger, and enhancing community engagement.   This job might be for you if: •You are passionate about ending hunger and building community solutions to ending poverty and food insecurity. •You are a curious learner who can listen deeply and synthesize various perspectives and data and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders about what you learn. •You find fulfillment in cultivating and sustaining relationships, demonstrating cultural humility in your interactions with a diverse range of clients, volunteers, representatives from partner organizations, and colleagues. •You excel in identifying, planning, designing, and implementing programs, changes, and initiatives that enhance the community's well-being, finding satisfaction in meeting its evolving needs.   Responsibilities: Partner Relationship Management & Program Oversight •Act as the primary relationship holder for a regional portfolio of Second Harvest programs and non-profit agency partners. •Manage coordinated logistics between internal and external teams to equitably and effectively serve your region. •Retain and manage all relationship records for partners, volunteers, and clients. •Coordinate inventory streams unique to each agency partner and Second Harvest grocery program. •Provide concise and effective verbal and written communication about pertinent policies, procedures, and changes to internal and community stakeholders. •Connect partners with additional Second Harvest services and resources available to them (e.g., infrastructure grants, policy agenda, CalFresh training).   Regional Strategy & Community Engagement •Act as the subject matter expert and liaison for your assigned region. •Develop and sustain community relationships to support hunger relief efforts and to address root causes of poverty. •Collaborate with internal and community stakeholders to conduct regional and community analyses and site assessments for new partnerships. •Leverage knowledge of regional needs, services, and assets to close gaps and support long-term solutions. •Identify opportunities to expand or optimize partner agencies and oversee recommendations for any programmatic, logistical, and infrastructure changes. •Serve as ambassador of Second Harvest and represent us at community conversations, events, and initiatives in your region. •Plan and host partner gatherings to build collaborative networks, facilitate meaningful conversations, share best practices, and communicate updates.   Client & Volunteer Experience •Uphold high standards of service with clients, volunteers, and partners. •Oversee the recruitment, training, and retention of long-term volunteers and site leaders at Second Harvest grocery distribution sites. •Implement and ensure proper client registration and attendance tracking at Second Harvest grocery distributions. •Collect and respond to client and volunteer feedback, escalating as appropriate to Programs Leadership, and finding solutions. •Identify opportunities to collaborate with Program Coordinators to deliver a high-quality client and volunteer experience. •Create succession plans for site leaders and other key volunteer roles. •Ensure program participants and community members are treated with cultural humility and respect. Compliance & Data Management •Ensure partnership agreements are upheld and that Second Harvest policies are met. •Oversee scheduling and implementation of partner monitor visits and required training and documentation for partner portfolio. •Ensure accountability of timely and accurate partner reporting for ongoing services, food allocation adjustments, and grant opportunities. •Oversee any suspension or inactivation processes according to regional needs and Second Harvest policies.   Program Improvement & Special Projects •Initiate and participate in projects and workgroups that improve community impact and align with organizational objectives. •Identify and apply best practices to strengthen service delivery and increase program efficiency. •Collaborate cross-functionally to refine workflows, systems, and service strategies. •Proactively identify recommendations and solutions to partner and Second Harvest site challenges related to transportation, storage, client flow, and food distribution. •Additional duties as assigned   The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications: •3-5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit, public health, community organizing, or social services. •Communicates effectively, defines clear handoffs, follows through on commitments, and solves problems with flexibility and good judgment across departments. •Effectively plans and prioritizes between multiple tasks and objectives to complete competing deliverables on time. •Brings a service-oriented, person-centered approach to all interactions. •Strong aptitude for Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and relationship management and/or enterprise resource systems. •Takes initiative, works independently, and consistently delivers on commitments and is dependable in maintaining assigned work hours. •Builds effective relationships with individuals from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. •Valid California driver's license with a clean DMV record; ability to travel frequently within the assigned region and work in the field approximately 30-50% of the time. . •Preferred fluency in another language, such as Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese, both.   Reports To Senior Regional Program Manager Location Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Curtner Center, 750 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 This is a hybrid position. Specifics of work location will depend on department needs. An employee’s regular remote work site should be within driving distance of one of Second Harvest’s locations and must be within the state of California. Hours Full-Time. Exempt. 40 hours/week, with some evening and weekend work as necessary. Compensation $83,481 - $98,213 is the wage range for this position. The salary wage offer will be commensurate with skills and experience.
