THE ROLE:

As a Silicon Photonics Validation Engineer in the SerDes Technology team, you will collaborate with various Product Development Groups, Silicon Design, DFT, Packaging, and interface with key technology partners.  This individual serves as a critical technical point of contact to ensure best-practices and new test concepts are architected, developed, and driven throughout the organization.  This position focuses on developing characterization and verification test solutions for silicon photonics.  You will be part of a larger team that defines test solutions from concept, development, to production deployment.

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a skilled engineer with hands-on experience in EIC or PIC characterization and validation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solving complex test and manufacturing challenges related to silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to support the development and implementation of robust test methodologies. Candidates should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment and contributing to long-term test solution strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bring up and validate silicon photonic devices and optical engines including modulators, photodetectors, wavelength‑division multiplexed channels, and optical interfaces
  • Perform electro‑optical characterization: optical power, extinction ratio, insertion loss, BER, eye diagrams, jitter, and sensitivity
  • Validate Tx/Rx optical paths across temperature, voltage, and process corners
  • Validate electrical‑to‑optical interfaces and high‑speed electrical links for the PIC
  • Correlate lab measurements with simulation and modeling results (optical, electrical, and thermal)
  • Develop and maintain validation test plans, lab procedures, and automation frameworks
  • Define and execute DFT and design‑for‑validation features for optical engines
  • Drive root‑cause analysis using lab data, protocol traces, and optical measurements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-on experience with full stack lab instruments such as high-speed scopes, BERT, VNA, and/or other associated lab equipment.
  • Experience in mixed signal analysis, issue debug
  • Experience in scripting test automation, demo GUI, customer supporting scripts
  • Understanding of Signal Integrity and/or Power Integrity is a plus
Familiar with advance data post processing technics is a plus

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
