Key Responsibilities

  • Must dominate the pastry station. 
  • Ensures all food and preparation of their stations are ready for every shift. 
  • Ensures all pastries are prepared by recipes designated by the supervisor.
  • Ensures food quality and quantity is correct.
  • Responsible for complete set up, cleanliness and organization of the Pastry station before every shift. 
  • Seeks to maintain knowledge of industry trends in the world of pastry and baking.
  • Bakes fresh pastries, desserts and breads for the restaurant.
  • Cleans preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
  • Estimates expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
  • Understands the impact of kitchen operation on the overall property financial goals and objectives.
  • Follows all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor.
  • Completes safety training and certifications. 
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others, supports the team to reach common goals.
  • Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Performs other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Hospitality oriented
  • Previous experience as a pastry cook or in a similar role in a hotel o restaurant. (Min.1 year)
  • Pastry certifications, preffered.
  • Technical pastry knowledge
  • Able to handle difficult situations effectively
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently, especially under pressure
  • Must be able to bend, squat, stand for long periods, stretch, reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and lift-up to 60 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have good communication skills in Spanish and English.
