The position will be based in San Leandro, CA and the salary range is $145,000 to $175,000 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility).

As the Plant Manager at our milk production facility, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality control, and safety. You’ll manage production schedules, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency and product quality. Leading a dedicated team, you will drive performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement, while managing budgets and resources effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality milk products to our customers.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership, aligning plant strategies with organizational goals  
  • Optimize plant operations for maximum efficiency and productivity.  
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the production team.  
  • Uphold quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal specifications.  
  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.  
  • Manage resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and raw materials.  
  • Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular audits to maintain a safe work environment.  
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and manage inspections.  
  • Oversee budget management, balancing cost control with operational needs.  
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.  

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • 7 to 10 years of increasing levels of responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 plus years’ experience with implementing Lean Manufacturing Principles. 

 

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience: 

  • Strong leadership background – ability to direct a diverse unionized workforce. 
  • Financial/budget management experience.
  • Capital project development, cost estimation, and management skills.
  • Proven negotiation, management, interpersonal, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Managing for Results/ Development skills
  • Production Engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication.
  • Ability to manage and develop employees.
  • Strong skills knowledge of MS applications including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, - and PowerPoint and ability to grasp additional business-related applications.
