CAPSLO is looking for a Cook to help provide nutritious meals for our childcare programs, ensuring that the food service operation runs smoothly and effectively. This is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals and families in our community.

What you bring to the table:

• A combination of two years of experience in institutional or commercial food services and/or culinary science education.
• Experience cooking for large groups is preferred.
• Has dependable, insured transportation and valid California Driver’s License (mileage to be reimbursed) and acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required.

As a Cook you will:

• Assist the Food Production Supervisor in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines.
• Help create, test, and standardize recipes that meet nutritional requirements.
• Pack and deliver food to multiple centers, maintaining high standards for food quality and safety.
• Manage inventory by receiving and storing food service supplies correctly.
• Keep detailed records of deliveries, equipment maintenance, and financials.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment and ensure thorough cleanup after meal service.
• For part of shift, transport food to childcare centers in agency vehicles and communicate with staff about deliveries.
• Participate in workshops and career development activities to enhance your skills.
