The CNC Operator II independently operates CNC machines, performs in-process inspections, and ensures consistent part quality and production flow using released programs and standard work. Tasks and responsibilities expected for this role include those captured by lower role specific levels.Â
This role involves working closely with engineers, production technicians, and operations teams to support multiple programs and value streams.Â
Key Responsibilities:Â
- Independently operate CNC machines per released programsÂ
- Load parts and verify fixtures and tooling prior to runÂ
- Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gaugesÂ
- Identify trends in tool wear or part variation and escalate appropriatelyÂ
- Maintain production pace and meet output targetsÂ
- Ensure documentation, traceability, and part labeling accuracyÂ
- Support basic machine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication checks)Â
- Maintain compliance with safety and quality standardsÂ
Responsibilities:Â Â
- Load and unload parts, fixtures, and materials into CNC machinesÂ
- Run approved CNC programs without modificationÂ
- Perform basic in-process inspections using hand tools (calipers, gauges)Â
- Monitor machine operation and cycle timesÂ
- Identify and report machine faults, tool wear, or quality concernsÂ
- Maintain clean, FOD-free work areasÂ
- Follow all safety, PPE, ESD, and quality requirementsÂ
- Complete production documentation accuratelyÂ
Qualifications:Â Â
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferredÂ
- 1–3 years of CNC operation experienceÂ
- Ability to read basic drawings and tolerancesÂ
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervisionÂ
Demonstrated Competencies:
- Consistent quality outputÂ
- Strong adherence to standard workÂ
- Reliable judgment on when to escalate issuesÂ
- Good communication with machinists and leadsÂ
