Job DetailsJob Location: Africa - San Marcos, TX 78666Position Type: Full TimePurpose Serves as a Standby Pilot in Command (PIC) for DHC-8 aircraft operating in overseas (OCONUS) environments under 14 CFR Part 135 operations.  Responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned aircraft while ensuring adherence to company policies, customer requirements, and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan flights as assigned and obtains information regarding purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures and special instruction. Ensure proper preparation of flight plans, considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities and navigational aids. Ensure all flights are released in accordance with FAR 135 guidelines and all of the necessary documentation is aboard the aircraft for legal and safe completion of each flight. Ensure that required airworthiness inspections have been accomplished and any previous discrepancies have been corrected or properly deferred in accordance with the MEL for that aircraft (as applicable). Complete the aircraft preflight inspection and performs preflight preparation to include a risk assessment for each flight conducted. Complete each flight as assigned by the company/customer, strictly adhering to schedules, routes of flight and load manifests. Ensure that all crew members are practicing CRM and are fully briefed on the particulars for each flight and any changes to original flight plans, passenger or cargo loads or condition of the aircraft and/or operating environment. Communicate routinely with on site management personnel on any issues with regard to safety of flight, maintenance of aircraft, life support, customer concerns or personnel issues.   Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough knowledge of FAA regulations and Part 135 operations. Strong aeronautical decision-making and risk management skills. Ability to safely operate aircraft in austere and international environments. Effective crew resource management (CRM) and leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Proficiency with aircraft navigation systems and flight planning software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, crew members, maintenance personnel, and company leadership Standby Requirements: Must be able to maintain a 48 hour or less notification posture, ie candidate will be able to commence travel in support of deployed tasking in 48 hours or less from notification of requirement. Be available to support deployed days in excess of 120 days per year in various OCONUS locations worldwide.   QualificationsRequired Qualifications     FAA Multi Engine Airline Transport Pilot Certificate Current FAA First Class Medical Current US Passport with at least 6 months remaining at all times 1,500 PIC time 500 PIC multi-engine Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security clearance at the Secret level High school Diploma Preferred Qualifications   3,000 hours total time 1,200 multi-engine turbine-time Experience in aerial delivery operations Experience in NVG operations Holds a current and active U.S. Security clearance at the Secret level Have at least one year of experience as a FAR part 135 pilot of an aircraft. To have at least one year of Government contracting experience in OCONUS austere environments/locations     Physical requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform pilot duties for flights of up to 10 hours. Ability to enter and exit aircraft using stairs and ladders. Ability to sit for extended periods while operating aircraft controls. Ability to work in confined aircraft environments. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, precipitation, and humidity. Ability to travel internationally and remain deployed for extended periods, as required.   Working Conditions Extensive international travel. Extended deployments in austere or remote environments. Irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended duty periods. Exposure to high-noise aircraft environments.
