Responsibilities - Oversees the buying, pricing, merchandising, promotion, and profitability of the Piazza’s Cheese departments and specific store-wide merchandising initiatives.
- Works with Cheese managers in both stores in the following areas:
- Proper cheese display practices
- Proper handling and rotation of product to ensure highest quality
- Manage inventory levels and turns
- Maintain company signage program
- Product knowledge
- Employee development
- Cross-merchandising of related products in cheese dept.
- Maintain excellent and highly appealing retail conditions
- Establishes excellent producer, distributor, and wholesaler relationships
- Oversees the employee recruitment and development process for both Cheese departments
- Continually refreshes product knowledge and stays abreast of food trends through a variety of sources
- Works with Deli managers, Wine stewards, and grocery staff to create store-wide merchandising initiatives
- Responsible for budgeting, promotion planning, and overall growth of Cheese department.
Job Qualifications - Retail grocery experience (at least 5 years)
- Product merchandising experience
- Product knowledge and passion for cheese and specialty foods
- Positive attitude and great customer service skills
- Great communication skills with customers, employees, and vendors
- Detail-oriented regarding store inventory and merchandising
- Timely, reliable, hardworking, and able to work well independently and with the team
- Certification in Food Safety and Sanitation (e.g. Servsafe)
