About the Role

 

At Zoox, we are building a full-stack autonomous mobility solution from the ground up. Within our Autonomy Software organization, we are actively expanding our self-driving capabilities to new geofences — pushing our vehicles into more complex and diverse real-world environments.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer Co-Op to support this expansion effort. Working directly with our autonomy engineering teams, you will gain hands-on experience developing, testing, and analyzing the software that powers our autonomous vehicles. If you are passionate about robotics, self-driving systems, and writing software that matters, this is a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact at one of the most ambitious companies in autonomous mobility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Software Development & Testing: Support development and testing efforts to improve driving performance across new geofences, contributing directly to the reliability and safety of our AV stack.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting on autonomous driving data to surface insights that drive engineering decisions.
  • System Evaluation: Help analyze and test autonomy software, identifying failure modes and supporting root cause investigations.
  • Documentation: Contribute to clear, accurate technical documentation to support team knowledge sharing and process consistency.


Qualifications:
  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Technical Chops: Proficiency in C++, with familiarity with software development processes and best practices.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Comfortable working across teams and communicating technical findings clearly to peers and leads.
  • Proactive Attitude: Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced, high-impact engineering environment.

This is a contract position and employment for this position will be through a vendor contracted with Zoox. The hourly pay range is posted and you will be eligible for a benefits package as offered by the vendor.
