The Purpose:

Slickdeals is looking for a Senior Customer & Business Data Analyst to join our Finance & Business Operations team. This is a high-visibility role that will help shape how we understand our business, our users, and the opportunities that will drive Slickdeals' long-term growth.

Reporting to the VP of Finance & Business Operations, you will work across some of the most important questions facing the company—from understanding changes in customer behavior and marketplace performance, to identifying business trends for senior leadership and the Board, to sizing new products, markets, and strategic opportunities.

We're looking for someone who goes well beyond reporting what happened. The right candidate is naturally curious, commercially minded, and proactive about identifying the questions that matter. You should be comfortable moving from raw data to a clear point of view:

What is happening? Why is it happening? Why does it matter? And what should we do about it?

This role will have significant exposure to Slickdeals' executive team and cross-functional leadership and will play an important part in informing the company's long-term strategy. You will have the opportunity to work with rich customer, deal, merchant, and transactional datasets and significant autonomy in determining where deeper analysis can create value.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive strategic and operational analysis. Analyze customer, deal, merchant, product, financial, and external market data to identify the trends, risks, and opportunities most important to Slickdeals' performance and long-term strategy.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer and marketplace behavior. Evaluate changes in acquisition, engagement, retention, conversion, customer value, merchant performance, and deal economics to understand not just what is changing, but why.
  • Size new products and growth opportunities. Build data-driven assessments of new products, markets, customer segments, revenue streams, and strategic initiatives, translating ambiguous questions into clear analytical frameworks and recommendations.
  • Validate new and evolving data sources. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to understand how new products and features work, validate that underlying datasets and metrics accurately reflect real-world product behavior, and identify data quality or tracking issues before they influence business decisions.
  • Proactively identify and answer important business questions. Go beyond responding to requests by surfacing anomalies, developing hypotheses, and independently pursuing analyses that can materially improve decisions. Leverage AI and other emerging tools where useful to accelerate deep analysis, dashboard development, and the path from question to action.
  • Influence decisions through clear communication. Distill complex analyses into concise insights, recommendations, dashboards, and presentations for cross-functional leaders, senior executives, and the Board.

What We're Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in business analytics, customer analytics, product analytics, strategy, business intelligence, finance analytics, or a similarly analytical and business-oriented role.
  • Advanced SQL skills and demonstrated ability to independently explore and analyze large, complex datasets.
  • Exceptional business judgment and an ability to connect analytical findings to customer behavior, underlying business economics, and broader strategic implications.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous business questions, structure them analytically, identify the right data and methodology, and develop a clear recommendation or point of view.
  • A naturally curious and proactive mindset. You don't wait for someone to tell you exactly what analysis to run—you develop hypotheses, investigate anomalies, and identify opportunities others may have missed.
  • Strong analytical storytelling skills, including the ability to distill a complex analysis into the few insights that actually matter.
  • Experience analyzing customer or user behavior, including areas such as acquisition, engagement, retention, conversion, segmentation, cohorts, or lifetime value.
  • Ability to move comfortably between highly detailed analyses and broad strategic questions.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders and using analytics to influence meaningful business decisions.
  • Strong proficiency with data visualization and BI tools such as Tableau or similar platforms and Excel / Google Sheets.
  • BS degree in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, business, computer science, engineering, or another quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a consumer internet, e-commerce, marketplace, digital media, affiliate marketing, or advertising business.
  • Prior experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or another environment emphasizing rigorous analytical problem solving and executive communication.
  • Experience analyzing merchant, marketplace, advertising, or transaction-level economics.
  • Experience combining internal data with external market, competitive, consumer, or industry data to explain business performance and identify emerging trends.
  • Familiarity with experimentation, A/B testing, and causal analysis, including the ability to interpret results and translate them into business decisions.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to accelerate analytical workflows, from ad hoc investigation and deep-dive analysis to dashboard development, automation, data visualization, and communicating insights.
  • A demonstrated interest in emerging analytical tools and a track record of using technology to reduce time from question → analysis → insight → action.
  • Experience with Python or another analytical programming language. Python is helpful, but this is not a data science or machine learning role.
  • Familiarity with modern data infrastructure and tools such as Databricks, dbt, Spark, or similar technologies.

How You'll Succeed:

The strongest person in this role will combine the analytical depth of a senior analyst with the mindset of a business operator.

You will be successful if you can:

  • Spot an important change in the business before someone asks about it.
  • Determine which questions are worth spending time answering—and which aren't.
  • Turn a vague business question into a structured analytical approach.
  • Move comfortably between customer-level data, deal and merchant performance, financial results, and broader market trends.
  • Develop hypotheses and determine which analyses will actually help distinguish between competing explanations.
  • Distinguish an interesting data point from something that actually matters to the business.
  • Develop a point of view rather than simply delivering analysis.
  • Explain complex analytical findings simply and persuasively.
  • Communicate that point of view clearly enough to influence senior-level decisions.
  • Use emerging tools, including AI, to materially increase your analytical leverage and speed.
  • Build a deep understanding of how Slickdeals works and use that context to continually improve the questions we ask.

This is not a role focused primarily on producing dashboards or fulfilling a queue of analytical requests. We are looking for someone who wants to own important business questions from beginning to end and whose work will directly influence how Slickdeals operates and where we invest.

Because of the breadth of the role and its exposure to senior leadership, this position represents an opportunity to have an outsized impact on both Slickdeals' near-term performance and its long-term strategic direction.
