WHAT YOU DO
- Plan and manage outbound transportation across multiple warehouse locations, evaluating routing options, carrier performance, retailer requirements, and freight costs to determine effective shipment strategies and logistics solutions.
- Serve as the primary operational liaison between customers, carriers, warehouses, and internal teams to coordinate shipment planning and resolve exceptions.
- Manage retail account transportation execution, including pickup coordination and compliance for key partners such as Costco and Trader Joe’s at States Logistics.
- Track shipments in real time, proactively identifying delays, service failures, and routing issues to prevent retailer chargebacks and delivery disruptions.
- Analyze and resolve conflicts between customer delivery requirements and carrier or warehouse availability to maintain service levels.
- Coordinate and optimize inter-warehouse transfer orders to support inventory positioning and fulfillment needs.
- Provide proactive shipment updates, delay notifications, and delivery confirmations to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Respond to customer inquiries related to shipment status, delivery performance, and transportation exceptions
- Communicate order changes, routing adjustments, and shipment exceptions to transportation and warehouse teams.
- Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies with warehouse partners to maintain accurate shipment and inventory records.
- Maintain and continuously improve open order tracking and shipment visibility for new, in-transit, and delivered orders.
- Track and analyze freight costs by customer, carrier, lane, and shipping method to identify cost trends and optimization opportunities.
- Analyze transportation performance and recommend operational improvements to reduce freight costs, improve service levels, and strengthen logistics efficiency.
- Evaluate small-volume shipments and determine the most efficient routing options, including LTL, consolidation, or alternative carriers. Support transportation strategy and systems initiatives, including TMS evaluation and implementation (Uber Freight TMS within NetSuite).
- Identify process improvement opportunities that reduce freight spend, increase operational efficiency, and improve shipment visibility.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation management, or supply chain operations, preferably within CPG, food, or retail distribution environments.
- Strong understanding of retail compliance, carrier management, and warehouse operations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience working with TMS and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Detail oriented, proactive, and operationally minded.
This role supports the company’s logistics and transportation operations through a combination of shipment coordination, operational analysis, and process improvement. The position regularly evaluates routing options, carrier performance, and freight costs to determine effective logistics solutions while balancing customer requirements, operational constraints, and cost efficiency. The individual in this role exercises independent judgment when resolving transportation issues and identifying opportunities to improve service levels, reduce freight spend, and strengthen logistics operations.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This role is full-time and will receive a competitive salary + benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and 401k. This position's anticipated annual pay range is $80,000 -$115,000 plus bonus. A variety of factors are considered when determining an individual's compensation, including a candidate’s professional background, education, certifications, experience, professional licenses, and location.
