The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Provides MAG staff and guests with a superior customer service experience while safeguarding the integrity of MAG's exhibitions and irreplaceable art collection. Welcomes staff, guests and vendors and relays information and direction of routine and limited nature. Performs time sensitive rounds to observe and contribute to a safe and secure environment for museum members, guests, volunteers, staff, collections, facilities and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Delivers exceptional customer service experience to museum guests. Gains knowledge of art collection, museum activities and special events to effectively answer questions and direct guests. Observes and protects the art collection by patrolling assigned areas.
  • Works closely with UR Public Safety and MAG Facilities Director to ensure safe and smooth operations. Reports unusual behavior and injuries to UR Public Safety Officer. Has awareness of the physical building and report problems.
  • Tactfully enforces and explains Museum rules. Defuses disturbances without interrupting the orderly flow of museum business. Maintains a professional demeanor under pressure. Develops and maintains positive working relationships. Assists with safe evacuation during emergencies.
  • Distributes and secures employee keys. Maintains sign in/out key logs. Monitors surveillance cameras for suspicious activity. Signs for packages and artwork. Monitors building equipment controls. Required to work weekends, some evenings, some holidays, and Clothesline Festival.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED completion required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience in customer service preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Microsoft/Outlook skills preferred
