Pre-employment Screening Requirements

The Tohono O’odham Ki:Ki Association conducts pre-employment screening for all positions, which may include a criminal background check, verification of education, credentials, licenses, certifications, and work history.  In addition, a check of names and identification documents is conducted on all new employees to ensure they are legally authorized to work in the United States.  All employees are required to successfully pass a drug screening test prior to employment; random drug screening tests may be administered post-employment.


Summary:

Under general supervision, maintains and repairs electrical, plumbing, roofs, drywall, coolers, and heaters and performs routine housing/building maintenance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Maintains and repairs electrical, plumbing, solar system, structural and mechanical aspects of housing and building units.

  • Read electrical and plumbing schematics and/or blue prints.

  • Troubleshoots, dismantles, remodels, repairs, reassembles and installs electrical switches on housing units .

  • Repairs vandalism or storm damage to buildings and houses.

  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance to assigned housing units.

  • Repairs cabinetry, roofs, sheetrock, and ceilings.

  • Replaces mirrors, windows, and interior/exterior doors in building and housing units.

  • Repairs or opens locked doors and gates.

  • Replaces floor tile.

  • Welds and repairs doors, gates, fences and equipment.

  • Paints indoors and outdoors of building structures.

  • Maintains , repairs or replace HVAC or swamp cooler systems.

  • Concrete repairs which may include block and/or pouring.

  • Troubleshoot, repair and installs stoves, refrigerators and water heaters.

  • Assists with other trades maintenance activities.

  • Occasionally scheduled for on-call duty.

  • Communicate/report to supervisor as needed.

  • Other related tasks assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years work experience within the maintenance or construction trade and any training certificate within the maintenance field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.  Ability to write simple correspondence in English.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to understand and speak O’odham Language, preferred.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and use fractions.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills needed. 

 

Required Certificates and Licenses:


  • Valid Arizona's Drivers License
