JOB SUMMARY:
Applications engineers work as a bridge between customers and internal business development teams, including sales, engineering, sourcing, and R & D. They use customer feedback and sales information to provide technical input and documentation control. This position plays a significant role in the achievement of sales goals and objectives by providing expertise to assist in cost estimates and customer quotations.
Applications engineers perform customer analysis to create innovative product solutions that respond to their needs. They visit customer locations to ensure products are operating satisfactory, work with R & D to test solutions and recommend improvements for optimization, perform the initial development of projects, track quotation cost performance, and maintain positive customer relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborating with Project Management, Product Management and Engineering teams to proactively research and develop concepts and proposals relative to specific customer requests
Provide technical support to entire organization for all freezer product lines as required.
Actively participate in proposal review meetings with the assigned Project Manager and Engineers to ensure clear communication of the customer’s requirements and the commitments made by the company.
Work with Account Manager and Segment Leader to develop pricing/budgets
Analyze customer needs and develop solutions that maximize value for customer and company.
Interact with customers to understand needs and develop solutions and close new business
Create and execute tests at site or in JBT tech center as required to prove or optimize solution.
Work with customers to ensure that prospective requirements are well understood to ensure effective and pertinent quotes
Collaborate with Engineers and Product Line Manager to optimize product line offerings and processes.
Recommend design and/or application changes to optimize operational efficiency and meet market needs.
Create flowcharts and user guides for new and existing products/procedures
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field or Food Science
1-3 years min. experience in manufacturing or food lab environment
RESPONSIBILITY/ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position requires the ability to work with little to no supervision and maintain a high level of accuracy/detail
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Able to cultivate and sustain positive professional relationships with customers as well as internal cross functional teams
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Advanced:
Knowledge of design of experiments methodology
General:
Knowledge of mechanical utility services
Understanding of process flow charts
Knowledge of AutoCAD (as is required to develop equipment layouts or proposal drawings)
Understanding of Microsoft Excel (identify accuracy, small mods/manipulations for desired output)
Basic:
Ability to read engineering drawings
Knowledge/use of hand tools

Work Environment:
Primarily works in a typical office/test lab environment
Possibility to be exposed to customer site hazards including heavy equipment, loud noise, slippery/uneven footing etc. Requires adherence to applicable safety policies & OSHA standards
