Live Entertainment Area Manager - Shows

Overview

The Area Manager of Shows is directly involved with performer casting for all onstage positions at Cedar Point and Castaway Bay Resort. They will organize and plan seasonal auditions tour. Develop, create show programminh and manage performers at Cedar Point and Castaway Bay Resort during rehearsals and operation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with other members of the production staff on show design, development and creation
• Co-writes and directs all in-house productions - approximately 20+ annually varying scales of difficulty and scope
• Organizes, coordinates, and schedules performance auditions (approximately 19 different auditions across the USA, 15 locations), hires seasonal performance staff for live shows, and supervises seasonal associates throughout operating season -150+ associates annually
• Assists in departmental planning, scheduling and calendar development, including rehearsal scheduling
• Monitors and maintains live show performances throughout the operating season to ensure quality
• Conducts maintenance rehearsals as needed to correct show difficulties
• Coordinates show alterations as needed due to performer injuries and absences
• Offers production assistance in area of expertise, whether as choreographer, music director, music arranger, show director, etc.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years equivalent experience required in dance, music, theatre, or performing arts required.
• Supervisory experience, experience/knowledge in choreography, music direction, or acting at a professional level required.
• Show creation, development and casting experience required. Ability to travel for work required.
• Ability to work nights/weekends/ holidays required. Driver's license preferred.
