Responsibilities

The Tumor Registrar III is responsible for obtaining, organizing, analyzing, and managing cancer data for use in various quality improvement and investigative studies. This individual will support quality studies and quality improvement initiatives of the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute (NHCI) Multidisciplinary Care (MDC) Teams, specifically the disease-specific Steering Committees. The Tumor Registrar III will work directly with administrative personnel, physician practice staff, and providers to assess the feasibility of each study; resource requirements; study design; and, data collection and analysis.

 

Abstracts malignant and benign processes for the oncology registries in accordance to standards of the Cancer Committee, Georgia Center for Cancer Statistics, Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program, American College of Surgeons and other Northside Hospital Cancer Institute (NHCI) accrediting agencies across the system.


Qualifications

REQUIRED

  1. Associates degree or equivalent in related field.
  2. Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credential and/or (formerly known as) Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential from the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA)
  3. CTR Certification
  4. Two years’ experience in cancer registry field or similar field.
  5. Experience using computer data base systems.
  6. Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  7. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

PREFERRED

  1. Experience using Microsoft Access and One Note.
  2. B.S. degree in Health Sciences, Health Information Management, or related discipline.
