$5,000 Sign‑On Bonus | Full-Time, 30 hours/week, 48 weeks/year


YCCAC Head Start is hiring a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for young children in a supportive, mission‑driven environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking with purpose and wants a stable weekday schedule.

As the Cook, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the center's food service program, including:

  • Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks following USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and approved menus.
  • Order, receive, inspect, and properly store food and supplies while maintaining inventory records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by following food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Complete required documentation, including meal counts, temperature logs, menus, inventory, and food service records.
  • Support family-style meal service and collaborate with classroom staff to encourage healthy eating habits.
  • Participate in nutrition education activities, menu planning, and family engagement events.
  • Transport meals and assist with food service for program activities and special events as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in food preparation required.
  • Experience in institutional, school, childcare, or nutrition services preferred.
  • Experience maintaining food sanitation standards, cleaning, and dishwashing preferred.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe Food Handler certification (or other required food safety certification) within the required timeframe.
  • Successful completion of required background and child protective services checks.
  • No active exclusion or debarment in the federal System for Award Management (SAM).
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
