We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who is not just technically sound but also thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to have a direct impact on meaningful, large-scale projects. Reporting to the CEO, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer (5–10 years' experience) looking to take on more leadership, project ownership, and long-term growth.


Requirements

Responsibilities

You will be a technical leader on a small, tight-knit engineering team, helping shape complex building systems from concept to installation. Here is how you will contribute:

  • Structural Design & Analysis: Design and analyze complex structural systems for our buildings, using advanced engineering software and methodologies
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the team maintains high technical standards
  • Client Interaction: Interface with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are aligned and that design requirements are met
  • Codes & Standards Compliance: Ensure designs comply with local, national, and international building codes and industry standards
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct peer reviews of design calculations, reports, and technical documents to maintain the highest engineering standards
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in project design and implementation, providing solutions to mitigate such risks
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with the Project Management team, from concept through to completion, ensuring projects meet time, budget, and quality requirements
  • Construction Support: Offer on-site support during the construction phase, including site visits, inspections, and coordination with contractors to resolve engineering issues


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; master’s degree preferred
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in structural design, analysis, and project management
  • Experience working on large or complex builds
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license desired
  • SE license or LEED accreditation a plus
  • Fluent in structural design software such as AutoCAD, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000. Tekla is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, design codes, and building systems
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and prioritize effectively


Physical Requirements: 

  • Sit for extended periods (6–8 hours/day)
  • Occasionally stand, walk, or move around work areas
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 20 lbs.; occasionally lift heavier items
  • Use computer, phone, and standard office equipment
  • Read, write, and review detailed information on screen or paper
  • Communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually
  • Work in a typical office environment with standard noise and lighting
  • Occasionally travel for meetings or work-related events


Schedule:

  • Our general operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
  • This is a full-time in-office position, located in Sanford, ME.
  • Travel (up to 25%) for client meetings or site visits is required.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: starting at $100,000-150,000 per year
  • Eligible for annual management bonus and profit sharing bonus, after one year of service
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance together with generous paid time off, and 401(k) with company match
