Job Responsibilities and Qualifications Required:

SUMMARY:

Material handler will help set up the production lines in the morning and throughout the day with 

materials. Bringing ingredients packaging etc.


EDUCATION:

•  High School Diploma or equivalent; 1 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing environment 

preferred

•  Able to follow written and verbal procedures and directions.

QUALIFICATIONS

•  Able to read/write/speak English.

•  Must have good hand eye coordination.

•  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and apply commonsense understanding to oral 

instructions as communicated by a Supervisor or Manager.

•  Safety:

o Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.

▪  Follow lock out/tag out procedures.

▪  Make sure all safety guards are in place.

▪  Make sure all safety limit switches are operational.

▪  Report all safety hazards to Management or Supervisors.

o Use all required PPE (Proper Protective Equipment).

o Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure safety of others and product.

•  GMP’S and HACCP:

o Follow GMP’s at all times. (Wear hairnets, clean uniform, etc.)

o Wear gloves at all times while handling product.

•  Sanitation:

o Maintain a clean work area at all times.

o Follow all clean up procedures during a shut down period.

•  Required Training:

o Guidelines to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

o Food Safety

o Food Defense

o SQF

o Monthly Safety Training

Additional training needed as identified by Management.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Assist Department Supervisor & Line Leads in all day to day activities. These include, though 

not limited to: planning, bringing packaging material needed for each pack line, label inventory 

and assist pallet wrapping of counted completed cases of finished product.

•  Bring all packaging material & empty pallets for completed cases and assist with setup of pack 

lines when needed.

•  Ensure all packing material on line is correct according to Packaging Standard to have an 

established start up and process control procedures.

•  Assist leads with correct pack labels for each product.

•  Must be knowledgeable of all on line and Department related equipment & materials.

•  Fill in for absent pallet wrapper and/or give breaks as needed.

•  Maintain and record correct count of pallet cases count.

•  Assist pallet wrapper in removal of pallets of used trays from pack lines.


•  Maintain standards and records as needed.

•  Keep area clean, orderly and work in a safe and efficient manner. Remove any un-used packing 

materials from production floor, making sure all materials are covered and boxes are taped back 

shut and store all materials in proper area.

•  Assist in label inventory and store any newly arrived labels in the proper area and maintain 

label area clean and organized at all times.

•  Follow and verify all packaging materials with the Packaging Standards on each pack line before 

start up and before any changeovers.

•  Perform job in a safe and efficient manner as directed by Supervisor and Company 

procedures.

•  Pallet supplies must be broke down before they are moved into the packaging area and packaging 

materials should be staged for each production line.

•  Must be certified by the company to operate all electrical pallet jacks and forklifts to be able 

to bring any materials from the warehouse.

•  Participation in all required meetings and programs.

•  Be willing to assist with coverage in the absence of another Material Handler.

•  Must be able to work additional hours or beyond standard schedule with little or no 

notice.

•  Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned by a Lead, 

Supervisor, or Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Determining timeframe: Never = 0 hours daily; Occasionally = 3 hours daily; Frequently = 3-6 hours 

daily; Constantly > 6 hours daily:

•  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee 

to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this 

job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; 

and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders. The employee is occasionally required to reach with 

hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities 

required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, 

and ability to adjust focus.

•  Be able to stand for at least an eight to twelve (8-12) hour period.

•  Be able to lift, carry, handle and grasp at least 35 lbs (Constantly)

•  Be able to lift, carry, handle and grasp at least 50 lbs (Occasionally)

•  Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist up to 50 lbs (Occasionally)

•  Be able to push and pull a wheeled pallet jack or rack to move items weighing up to 400 

lbs.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and will include, but not be 

limited to, production machinery, computers, printers, telephones, and normal communication. 

Hearing protection will be required for all in plant activities.

•  Must be willing to work under various temperatures ranging from typical 45 to 95 degrees 

Fahrenheit.
