The Starbucks Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities of the Starbucks Department to achieve sales, labor, customer service, food safety, inventory, brand standards, and profitability goals. The Starbucks Manager leads department associates, ensures compliance with Starbucks and company operating standards, and delivers an exceptional customer experience through quality products, outstanding service, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development- Recruit, interview, train, coach, and develop Starbucks associates.
- Schedule associates to meet customer service and operational needs.
- Provide ongoing performance coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, inclusion, and customer service excellence.
- Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
- Promote associate engagement, retention, and professional growth.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistent with Starbucks and company expectations.
- Create a welcoming environment that encourages customer loyalty and repeat business.
- Resolve customer concerns, complaints, and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure associates provide knowledgeable recommendations and product information.
- Maintain a customer-first culture throughout all department operations.
- Direct daily Starbucks operations, including beverage preparation, food service, merchandising, inventory management, and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure all beverages and food items are prepared according to Starbucks recipes and specifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and order products and supplies as needed.
- Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
- Maintain department appearance and operational readiness throughout the day.
- Manage product rotation and stocking to maintain freshness and availability.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Monitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality, cleanliness, and operational standards are maintained.
- Ensure associates consistently follow Starbucks and company food safety practices.
- Maintain required food safety documentation and records.
- Execute Starbucks and company promotional programs and initiatives.
- Maintain attractive merchandising displays that support sales growth.
- Analyze sales trends and identify opportunities to improve department performance.
- Promote seasonal beverages, featured products, and special offerings.
- Develop action plans to achieve department sales and profitability goals.
- Manage department labor, inventory, expenses, and shrink.
- Monitor key performance indicators and departmental financial results.
- Ensure efficient labor scheduling and productivity management.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and effective ordering practices.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Starbucks standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support asset protection and shrink reduction initiatives.
- Ensure department equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Strong leadership and associate development skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of coffee preparation, food service operations, inventory management, and merchandising.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to analyze sales and operational reports.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, ordering platforms, and retail technology.
